...Well. I had on some off chance that it would be better a second go around, decided to make a NG+... so I ended up running around the Citadel, snarked at the Council, got my tour via datapad of the SR-2, and set myself up to head to Palaven.

I remember playing through the Mars mission and going to the Citadel the first go around. I was so excited, practically giddy, with how happy and pleased I was with the game. This time though, as I played all I was thinking about was how this would all end in tears and Gilligan's planet. There's an undercurrent of nightmare fuel and hopelessness that colors everything in the game because I know how it's all going to end. So... needless to say - it wasn't better or even as good. It was worst.

Might get back on and play through Menae after my evening shift at work. Maybe getting Garrus and shooting things will cheer me up.

I haven't even touched it since my first playthrough. What's the point?

What did you do? How did it feel? Did it make you want to play more?

I felt slightly irritated, to be honest: spacebar does everything, unholsterable weapons, autodialogue, lack of exploration; don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game for the most part, but far, far too many rough edges, and sadly that's what caught my attention more than anything.  They probably needed another year at least to get it finished properly, which I'm increasingly convinced is what was wrong with the ending (i.e. EA told them to redo their already tight schedule to fit in more important bits like MP and Jessica Chobot so the real ending was binned and NDAs dictated the lame "artistic integrity" excuse) but, sadly, EA doesn't like to wait for the profits to come rolling in.

So I didn't really want to play more, I'm sad to say.

I started a new play-through today. 1st time I've touched the game since I beat it on March 10th. Noticed a few things:

"Can't beat them/win this conventionally" was getting tossed around a lot. Like someones trying to hammer in to my head how futile everything is.

Liara's voice acting is getting a little grating. Every time she sound pause, like with commas and ellipses, she runs right through the dialog. It's odd. Especially considering Jillian Murray is from Reading, Pa, about an hour west of where I live and grew up. Nobody talks like that in southeast Pa. It's almost like she's a non-native English speaker.

The stark linearity of the game and the smallness of the game world are much more apparent now.

TBH, I don't really feel like playing any more. If I need a sci-fi fix, I'll watch TV or boot up a Microsoft-published product.

First time in a while I felt favourably towards Nexon:

I've been playing ME1 since before ME3 was released. Finished that a week or two ago and started ME2. I haven't been back in ME3 in over a month. It's a stark contrast between that and the first two. It just doesn't feel right. So many flaws compared to those two. All the eavesdropping fetch quests. The autodialog. It all just feels smaller. Played for a few hours, now taking a break.

Continued my unfinished NG+ game for a few missions after the Tuchanka arc. Chatted with my crew. Told Allers to leave. Inspected the Normandy for hull leaks.

Its been a few weeks -- I'd forgotten how bad the 'Cerberus Scientists' mission with Jacob was.

Oh well, back to other games aren't downers. Arkham City ftw!

Started 3rd playthrough in support of Turn it On/Turn it Off. The singlr player game is still amazing. Just needs a better ending. And after the second playthrough I've decided that I indeed want MY Shepard to live. If Bioware gives us the option to make Shepard live as canon then for the next Mass Effect game (if there is one) I will say to them "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" However, if the June DLC is dissappointing and there is not an ending in which Shepard lives then I will be done with Bioware. Hackett out.

Logged in...

Started a new game with one of my MANY ME2 import characters... (Have yet to replay ME3 since beating it the first time...)

Was annoyed at how you cannot skip 90% of the intro... You have to sit and wait through the stuff you have already seen even tho Shepard has little to no interaction.

Killed some Batarian reaper things... got picked up by the Normandy... Saw the starkid die, smiled at that, then logged out and exitted Origin.

How did it feel?
Bitter. A Bitter reminder of how badly BioWare handled the ending of the (formerly) best Sci Fi RPG I had once enjoyed and now cannot even go back and enjoy 1 or 2... so pointless...

Well don't complain when you have an issue with a game, industry,or developer,as your time to make a statement is now. Obviously doing nothing will change nothing.

My statement was meant in General. Also this statement is against EA/Bioware. Having a problem with the way DLC is handled? Well why not participate in the turn it off/on event? How could it possibly hurt? It may be one of the many steps needed to help change the gaming industry including DLC etc. I am not trying to attack anyone who does not want to participate,I am just saying it is harmless and couldn't hurt, especially if you have any complaints concerning games, the industry, developers, etc.

Loaded up a save from my first (and so far, only) play-through that I intentionally kept at a point where I could invite Traynor up to my quarters. On the first play-through I romanced her, but from this save I haven't this time round.

Did this because I'm not quite ready for another ME3 play-through yet (doing other things, playing other games), it's a good point to explore some of the other Romance options I have with this save (Kaiden and Allers) and it's a good point of the game in terms of Priority Missions. Basically all the Quarian and Geth business.

Only did Priority Missions and some conversations on the Normandy but have only played for 2-3 hours max due to being busy doing other things too. Only got as far as being ready to do Priority: Rannoch. It's getting late here in the UK so off to Bed shortly!

Edit:  It felt good to play again.  I still really enjoy the game and will not hesitate to do multiple play-throughs of it in the future.  Whilst my gut feelings tell me that the ending is rushed and a missed opportunity, I'm cautiously optimistic that the Extended Cut will improve on it significantly.

Just played for an hour. I had a moment of, well, pretty strong negative emotion trying to decide which save to load up. Some parts of the game I just can't bring myself to experience again. I ended up playing the geth dreadnought mission.

Logged, rescued the primarch again, had conversations with the NPCs that were available. Hopefully BW and their "metrics" will take notice of how many people still consider the single player campaign important.

Turned on ME3 just now for the first time since the night I finished the game. I can still feel the sense of disbelief and bitterness I felt when I first realized what was happening. It's more distant now, but...man, I need the EC to be good just to make this game worthwhile again.

Edit: Completed a run through the beginning with default femshep, no import.  That should register, and I can't bring myself to do more than that.

God, I've missed Mass Effect!!!!!!

I started a new playthrough with a different ME2 import. I was mean to everyone, especially Kaidan. That felt good. Was actually enjoying the Mars & Palavan missions, citidel looked stunning etc... then I made the mistake of revisiting my original playthrough - a saved game in the middle of the London mission.

I took me right back to my bad place and I spent the next few minutes crying in the corner...

Imported my ME1&2 saves for my renegade femShep as a second ME3 playthrough so I could see some differences to keep myself interested. Had a few laughs from a few things that were different from my first playthrough; I thought it was great when Joker accidentally told Liara that this Shepard disconnected the Council in ME1.

I got past Mars, recruited Javik first to mix things up... but I just don't have any of the passion like what I have when I replay the first two games. It just feels empty at this point. The ME series deserves a better ending.

Replayed the first few missons using new game+ on impossible; having all my gear and powers made it actually feel pretty easy; I guess I might feel different in later missions, I don't know.  Had a hard time with immersion; I kept noticing all the little tiny plot holes scattered everywhere.  They didn't bother me the first time round, but I suppose I was more excited then.

The trouble with the ending is that the plot holes are so obvious, they make you go back and start to see the smaller plot holes that you overlooked before.  And once you start looking, they're EVERYWHERE.  I guess that's what happens when a dozen different people are responsible for different bits of the story; with no single "author" in charge for the whole series, continuity suffers.  The same thing happens with TV; teams of writers, different ones for different episodes, and even with the best intentions in the world, inconsistencies creep in.

It's too bad, though; the ME1 story had so much promise...*sigh*

After suffering the dreadful Mass Effect 3 ending twice (100% paragon / 100% renegade), playing any of the games in the series is no longer fun. I have many other games that are a delight to play from start to finish; the Mass Effect series will never be the same for me unless BioWare surprises us with an amazing ending overhaul this summer.

All I can think of while playing Mass Effect 3 is how frustrating this whole situation is, plus the condescending attitude of certain BioWare employees, some of the people that claim to like the ending, and those game reporters that always support Electronic Arts.  No game is worth this much annoyance.

I only played Mass Effect 3 today to support this cause; it was a chore, as fun as washing dishes, doing laundry, or taking out the trash. :-)

If BioWare doesn't do a good job with the Extended Cut DLC, I'm done.  I'll uninstall Origin and never buy another Electronic Arts product again.

Sorry BioWare, but that's how I feel; no use in sugar coating it.

Done, though without Twitter. Just began a new game, importing an ME/ME2 character and continuing through Mars. Played through 3 twice previously, since I'd wanted to be sure my initial reaction to the ending hadn't been an issue of comprehension or mood. I do have hope; it's otherwise a brilliant and fun game. However, I don't much relish it right now, with the sour ending hovering over everything else in my mind like a silly, bleak raincloud. Fiddlesticks.

Turned it on, saved my game, turned it off. Same for the Mrs too. Just tweeted to @masseffect also.

Heading to silence now. G'luck all. Hope we get the ending we all deserve.
