So, I've been playing through Dragon Age:Origins and I'm a Dwarven Commoner, and I always intended to make Anora take the throne. But, when I get to the landsmeet when the time comes to choose who will rule, I don't get any say in it and Alistair is automatically made King!

I've played through all of Denerim leading up to the Landsmeet 4 times and whether I win or lose, the same outcome always happens. I've also tried shutting down my entire game twice, and still no change! I don't know what to do, I want Anora to rule, not Alistair! :(

Does anyone know what's wrong with my game, and how to fix it? I want to actually choose, not have Alistair automatically chosen :?

There are lots of factors affecting the Landsmeet outcome, here is a summary.

If a hardened Alistair kills Loghain, he will always get the throne.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "win or lose"? Win or lose what, exactly? The one-on-one duel with Loghain? The brawl in the Landsmeet chambers? The support of the people who can vote?

Thank you so much! I ended up killing Loghain myself and I was able to choose Anora :)

The support of the people, I meant. So, I would win their support or lose their support and I couldn't choose to make Anora the ruler

So after Loghain is either spared or killed, you don't have the option to support either Anora or Alistair? That's odd. I'd recommend looking at the link caradoc2000 gave you.

One sure way of keeping Alistair off the throne would be sparing Loghain, and then supporting Anora, after which you lose Alistair though (and gain Loghain as a party member).

True enough, if Loghain is recruited Alistair will storm off.

Did you harden Alistair and have him execute Loghain? Because if so, he is automatically declaired king in that scenario, without the Warden's input. Alistair unhardened or someone else executing Loghain leaves room for Warden to decide. I found it out the hard way on one playthrough too.
