Found this on the GOG support page.

Problem / question
Black screen, or game displayed in one corner of the screen

Solution
This problem is likely to occur on computers equipped with Intel HD Graphics devices.
To fix it, go to the System Shock 2 folder, and open the cam_ext.cfg file in Notepad.
Find this line:
multisampletype 8Add a semicolon before it. It should now look like this:
;multisampletype 8
Afterwards save the file and launch the game.

This setting should be introduced in an upcoming installer update
