The other is a horror show waiting to happen. I direct you to what happened in Alien Ressurrection.

I love people who think that something that happened in a movie can be used as valid proof for anything.

I'm not keen on hybrids, but only because they seem implausible in the short term. Plus there's plenty of orphans of all flavors needing parents.

Actually NOTHING can be worse than Alien Ressurection.

What an awful, awful piece of crap.

Good day to everyone! It's starting to get difficult finding spiky baby pictures, so I thought I'd post this for the lolz.

It does a pretty good job representing my rants in this threadPosted Image

This is actually really funny.

She wasn't kidding either.

Also when did this turn from Turian and Krogan babies to mutant babies?

This is the point where I would have to disagree. The "cherry on top" part for me would be if Shepard continued to serve with distinction in the Alliance, and was the tip of the spear responsible for the foundation of a mighty human empire.

Uh... okay, new Cerberus leader.

IDK, but this was orignially just for turian babies, then it became ADOPT ALL THE BABIES, then hybrids were thrown in... it's all fun, as long as the babies are spiky and cute.

We should just have one big ALL THE BABIES thread :wub:

Incidentally, we should totally do the math on how many orphans there actually are likely to be.

Er, to keep on topic, I've invented a turian baby emoticon:   c|oE

Would you prefer someone else to gain an edge in the aftermath of the most destructive war the galaxy has ever seen?

Cerberus, at least the basic premise behind Cerberus makes sense. They were merely marred by incompetent leadership and writers' fiat. (The former being directly influenced by the latter ;))

I'd rather not have any human supremacist organization, period. I would prefer it if they started looking at others as "people" rather than "aliens".

Good work, you just pointed out another flaw in Mass Effect's writing. It would have been much more interesting and compelling if Cerberus was more like a cross between the CIA and the Navy SEALs (in spaaaaace....) rather than the KKK with better funding (again, in spaaaaace....). What I'm saying is, why can't humanity have their own answer to the salarian STG and the Council Spectres?

I'm all for a super-duper awesome section of the Alliance (actually, i thought N7 was that section), but an organisation that wants nothing more than to put the boot down on other races just because they're not human? Especially one that goes unchecked?

No thanks, no thanks at all.

Considering how many ships of refugees we heard were being filled with only kids... I'd reckon a lot.

Also, I'm not sure how to read that emoticon.

I'm not sure how to read it, either. I think... the c is supposed to be a diaper, the | is supposed to be arms, the o is the head, and the E is the spikes?

And if anyone's going to bring up the Levo/Dextro amino acids differences, see here http://creationsafar...om/epoi_c03.htm scroll down to section 68.

Left- and Right-Handed Amino Acids Can Be Linked
Are the two forms of the amino acids shaped so that any of them can unite, whether they are L- or D- in type? The answer is yes. Whether left- or right-handed, any amino acid can be linked with any other of either hand. There seem to be no exceptions.
*more snipping 'cause you get the point*

I just wanted to clarify that the issue here is not if levo/dextro amino acids can be linked together to make a protein. They can be. But amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and if your species evolves using predominately one type, then they'll be designed to interact with other proteins of that type (and to interact with other chiral molecules a certain way). So basically, a levo-based protein wouldn't be able to interact with a dextro-based protein like it should. The best example I can think of is trying to put a right foot shoe on your left foot. It doesn't fit properly.

This is an oversimplification of course. For instance, D and L can mean something different to chemists vs. biochemists... the former bases D and L on optical activity of each molecule. The latter bases D and L on the optical activity of reference molecule glyceraldehyde. But the bottom line is that the problem was never whether or not dextro/levo amino acids can be joined together. Right now, you and me have some dextro amino acids in us! They're not as common as the levorotary ones, but they're there!

For the record, I'm not against turian babies, hybrid babies, etc. Just did this for science! ME is full of lots of ridiculous science though so if you all want to tell me that hybrid babies or human gestation of turian embryos can happen due to space magic or something... I will not fight you. The reasoning behind mass effect relays isn't exactly watertight itself.

I think the bigger question is why would you want this for your child? Your kid would be all alone, face enormous discrimination, not to mention the ethical and political reasons why this would probably never be allowed in the ME universe. I guess this is why I didn't pick Synthesis. I don't want to play God.
I vote for all the adopted babies too. Think of how many war orphans there would be. :?

Edit: to add link to chirality

First off: I loooove your username!

Thanks for the scientific refresher course! Now I remember why when Mordin told me about allergies and not...*ahem* "ingesting" I was like, wait a minute, that doesn't seem right. But I wasn't a bio/biochem major per se (more neurobio and psych), so I couldn't remember why I disagreed with that.

@Vetto: yeah, someone should make a thread for the little brainy and the little bubble babies. And the little... uh... swimmy babies? Scaly babies? Elephant-like babies?

Maybe I should just make this an ADOPT ALL THE BABIES!!! thread, lol.

Even if he did, i really don't think he'd find a Vorcha attractive enough to put his thingo in her thingo and not throw up at the same time.

Hedgehogs make spikey babies just fine. The spikes are soft at birth and harden later. I think a human woman could deal with that.

I've got nothing against any kind of alien babies, but personally find this to be a bit spooky. I also don't like the unimaginative quarian design that they did for Tali that this seems to be based on.

Here's one that's a bit cuter in my opinion, although it having a suit is against the lore.

Just how many times do we have to say Turians give birth to live young until people stop comparing them to actual birds just because they sorta resemble them?

Anyone?

Symbolically i mean. Turians don't lay eggs (like a bird would, hence the bird comment).
