I'll leave you with a quote, one from a man I deeply respect.

@Taboo-XX So does that only go for humans according to you?

Cunnilingus! Cunnilingus everywhere!

Is it because of my comment about David Bowie looking creepy, cause I never meant to hurt your feelings with that onePosted Image.

It would be nice if this thread could focus just a little bit more on babies and a little less on making them or hating them because of their species. At least I interpreted the topic to be about our adoration for cute spiky babies.

Thank you!

Just trying to keep this thread alive and on topic. Problematic. Need some help here!

Oh, no man it's cool. I enjoy a bit of snark everywhere. I work in the film industry. VERY little shocks me anymore.

I support all kinds of relationships. In Mass Effect........I always had a relationship with the person my Shepard identified with. Said person was human.

This one is supposedly a turian/human hybrid. Looks like an abomination? Yes. Cuteness factor? Nil.

FTFY.

Seriously, there is not a hybrid image that does not creep me the heck out.

Here's the thing about those hybrid pictures. Every one of those artists was pro-hybrid, and those were their attempts to make an attractive hybrid. Those are the best case scenario and even they look seriously creepy. I shudder to think what the randomness of Frankenstein science biological hybridization would create on its own without anyone white-washing it by taking out the more unattractive possibilities.

Thank you. I don't know why people seem to be unable to grasp the meaning of 'alien'.

That's hilarious. And sort of sterotypical. xD If I'd ever sit next to someone playing either of those games, or Dead Space, I'd want it to be a Krogan.

As for the subject, I love the idea of femshep and Garrus adopting kids, whether it be humans, turians, krogans or whatever else.

Some comments in this thread are hilarious though... but I won't start a flame war.

I think a lot of the confusion comes from their appearence and the fact that a common Human military slang term for Turians is "birds".

@Aris Ravenstar Oh come on! Don't tell me this little fellow istn't cute! I'm starting to wonder if it is the fact that you know it is supposed to be a hybrid that makes you think it's gross and therefore cannot admit that it's cute. No?

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I agree with your second point. That people keep comparing turian biology to birds simply because the design was inspired by them is a bit annoying.

Uh, no. Hybrids like that one are square in the middle of the Uncanny Valley for me. The idea of floppy bits of hybridized plating just grosses me out.

I'm indifferent to this, I'm not a big fan of hybrids. Besides hybrids between humans and turians is pretty much impossible is it not?

Also is that where the bird thing came from? I never thought turians were birds, and never thought about it until I heard those two guard on the Normandy say that those birds really can hold out or something like that.

I agree that if hybridization would work, there could potentially be a lot a scary results, but this is a story and in any good work of fiction, not random but interesting things will happen. That could be either the full blown tragedy of a blind monstrosity with no arms OR a beautiful, perfect little bundle of cuteness.

As this whole thing about Shepard even getting to have any babies at all is about a happy ending - the best possible ending, I think the result would be the latter. Also, Shepard is too high level to have anything but perfect, healthy childrenPosted Image.

Depends on what you mean for impossible. Natural interspecies breeding would probably be impossible. But in-vitro lab fecundation or DNA alteration of cells and embryos in a setting like Mass Effect definitely wouldn't, considering the level of genetic science. A human could have sexual relationships with turians or quarians to develop their intimacy and passion, and have babies via lab, probably even host them and birth them from the female's womb.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree, Cecilia L. To me the best possible ending involves realistic possibilities and consequences. There is plenty of room for the 'best possible happy ending' without hybrids. My Shepard, for one, will not feel any less fulfilled for raising adorable adopted turians with their father's clan markings.

I have no clue if its possible in a lab or not but my question would be if it is then why would they do this? I really don't see what would be gained from doing so. You could agrue that nothing would be lost either but then you have a child who is likely going to have to deal with social issues their entire life because as far as we know there are no hybrids in Mass Effect.

My guess is Bioware didn't think of it, the same way as there aren't female turians. It's something that doesn't really matter from the game setting perspective. As to why would someone want to have an hybrid child... don't know, perhaps to feel it's really theirs? It shouldn't have many social implications in an universe where aliens are your daily bread. Those who would shun the little kid are the same that don't approve your interspecies relationship to start with, so it's not like their opinion mattered to you from the beginning.
