I think I spent more time reviving than shooting, but when you're the invisible man, do what you do.

This week is hard for me, I'm currently using my iPhone as a modem since my provider cut off my internet on friday and said it'll take 7 days to fix.

got kicked from the first lobby, which didn't surprise me. Eventually a few people doing FBWGG let me stay, though one of them wanted to kick me. came 3rd and 4th in the matches I played, rocking just a lvl 16 sentinel with vindicator II. I got 60-70k both rounds, and was only a few thousand behind 3rd/2nd both times. it really is much more difficult doing gold without upgraded weapons or decent classes.
Also, the quality of xbox players is awful compared to PC. I can drop into a random gold lobby on PC and there's a 75% chance we'll make it out alive. I've had about 20%-33% success on SILVER on 360. it's actually easier to solo, cause you're not tempted to run out and revive people.

I usually play gold on PC so getting three extractions was easy. none were FBWGG either. I have the game on 360 as well and figured I'd have a crack at gold despite being N7 50 and only having unlocked the turian sentinel, and next to no useful weapons.

thats odd when i play gold on xbox we finish wave 10 about 75% of the time. I nerd rage hardcore on the rare ocasion that we don't make it that far.

If the asari justicar is reading this, I forgot your name, but I am absolutely delighted to have worked with you. Completely and utterly delighted. And the human vanguard, you were amazing too, charging all them phantoms without a care in the world. And without the geth infiltrator I don't know how we could have finished the hack objective missions.
After 9 teams which were less than ideal, it was utterly wonderful to play a game where everything clicked pretty well. =)

Now this weekend i tried again just to get me a smooth ride with some folks in firebase dagger and so far i cleared 3 gold misions with full extraction in 20 min
I feel that vanguards are fkin useless tho lol
Had to ressurect this vanguard in my group today for about 25 + times with him ending up very low score and just being more of a pain then a help.
Hope more of these events happen since it pushes people to do gold more

Spent yesterday morning leveling my beloved Turian Sentinel back up to 20. Stocked up on jumbo equipment packs. Finally dropped my 2-weapon usual loadout (Mattock III and Graal Spike Thrower) and just went with the Mattock. My God, was amazed at the cooldown that gave me... I felt like a biotic tech god! My last bronze game to bump me to 20 -- at Dagger versus Reapers -- I was basically solo-killing banshees with Overload/Warp and brutes with Warp. Was just so amazed at that, really. Was consistently topping the bronze scoreboards, which before I was usually 3rd/4th all the time. I was as ready as I was ever going to be. But I was still nervous and apprehensive... like a hobbit stepping foot out of the Shire for the very first time. LOL
Knowing I needed to find a well-balanced team of good players (since I knew I'd be the inexperienced Gold newbie that would need carrying) to stick close to and learn from, I ventured into Gold. Forgot to set enemy to Cerberus, so I immediately got dumped into a White/Geth/Gold room. One person dropped after we started. I did my best, but we all wiped on Wave 8. I bailed and re-set search for Cerberus rooms. Played two at Giant, only made it to Wave 6 both times. Then back at White... with Cerberus this time... we all died at Wave 7. These were all with different, random teams that looked fairly good "on paper".
I was starting to get fairly disappointed. Especially since I was actually doing pretty darn well, all things considered... I was rezzing others more than they had to rez me. I was stripping the shields of everything we shot at. Focused on quickly taking down Engineers, Turrets, and Nemeses. I was helping best I could with the conga lines of Atlases by spamming Overload until their shields were gone, then spamming Warp (and hails of bullets in-between). Same formula for the Phantoms. And I was inadvertantly helping Asari Adepts by either setting up or setting off biotic explosions, I think. Power combos confuse me, for some reason.
Breakthrough finally came on my 5th Gold game ever, and the final one I intended to play for the day. White with Cerberus again. Met the world's most awesome, laid-back Geth Engineer dude who, if we wasn't an active part of Operation: Carry, he may as well have been. He and I were the only ones with mics and he was super-helpful. I made it clear from the start I was a Gold newbie, but knew to stick with the team and keep my head down, had my best equipment slotted up, had Overload and Warp maxed to best efficiency, only carried one weapon that -- though low-powered -- I was most comfortable and deadly with. Main thing I wanted was direction. Tell me what to focus on. Tell me what not to do. Yell at me if I need to cast Overload or Warp on something that I am apparently missing. Help me help you. Teach me to be the best support for my team I can be.
That geth unit was a saint. Gently poked and prodded me in the right direction. Had his Hunter Mode on to see what was coming at us from what directions. As we made it past Wave 8, I actually started trembling a bit. Could this be it? Could this finally be my Gold extraction? Geth Engineer Dude just calmly led us, cool and never concerned. He actually almost sounded like one of those nature show hosts, serenely describing the local flora and fauna... and how best to kill it. LOL By Wave 11, we hung back and dealt out death and then, with 30 seconds left, he told us to make a beeline for the extraction zone. I actually held my breath. And when we got a full extraction, I sighed... and Geth Engineer Dude concludes, "And that's Gold. It's just that easy."
Just that easy, he says. I laughed. Thanked him immensely for his help. And quit for the night. Think I will largely stick with Bronze, though. I just don't like stressing that much. I have more fun being a big fish in a small pond. May not be a proud thing, but that is where my fun lies: an almost 100% assured extraction, and a chance for me to help the ultra-new folks learn the ropes.
But finally playing Gold was a valuable experience. I was shocked and honored to receive several friend requests from my time there, even though I warned every room up front that I was a Gold newb. And never got kicked once, even with my full and open honesty in the lobbies (and my humble Mattock III loadout).
Thank you, Gold regulars, for your patience, your wisdom, and for carrying me through the weekend event.
