We should have a "What if the EC sucks?" thread to balance this one out.

nathat would apeal to the trollicks

Yes, because everyone who distrusts BioWare at this point is a troll. Your logic is unfathomable.

i never said that  now stop putting words in my mouth , but you could try to be little more  transparent on getting your point across, since you just  went to flame  and not seeing what i wrote after i edited, soo i  i think i have the right classification  for you..

youre a troll that just got butthurt for me calling it  in this thread sorry but you cant deny you are

See? Such wisdom this one has! If I wanted to flame you, it would have been much, much worse than declaring your logic flawed, but okay, resort to the name-calling. I forgive you <3

lol and here we go again bud i got my point across and you still continue to try to down play me  so who trolling  yeha  i say you are nice try

I got out that something I did was a "nice try."

Will it rekindle BioWare's rep? It's been pretty damanged as of late. The ME3 endings and DA2 was kick to the quad, so do you really think that 30/40 min of hopefullly awesome new content would bring back BioWare from that hole it's dug it's self in?

That's very optimistic, but if they fix it and EC is great, I'll be happy.

If it resolves 50% of my issues with the ending and provides ME3 with, at least, a 'decent' conclusion then (for me) BioWare will regain most of their lost reputation/affection/rivalry points. That said it won't change the fact that just how closely I follow BioWare is still rather dependent on DA3, that's the big one (and I liked DA2).

Whatever their next IP is post-Mass Effect will factor in too, should say a lot about the direction they are going in. Even more so if there is no new IP and it's another ME game.

They already have a limit on budget, time, and actual voice actors.

So though I'm not completely counting it out, my expectations are, wary.

I heard they aren't going to rush it, and they want to get it right. So I'm sure that means it'll be pretty awesome.

I seem to recall Bioware saying something along these lines when discussing the delay in realeasing ME3 (remember, it was supposed to have been released late last year).

That being said, I am being cautiously optimistic.  If the EC is stellar, I will be very pleased.  And if Bioware also releases some really great single player console DLC then all will be forgiven and I will be anxiously awaiting new installments of the Mass Effect saga.  If not, my allegiances will be with Bethesda.

If it IS done well, I may not be satisfied with the fact that it wasn't there in the first place, but I won't complain anymore and I'd be willing to continue with the ME series (if it does continue, which it most likely will)

Let me put it this way:
If EC doesn't have an option in which Shepard rides off into the sunset (ala ME2 best ending),..erm d with the Normandy and co, then to me personally it's a fail. I like him too much and the way I've roleplayed him goes against things like control/synthesis bulls0hit. Nope, no sir, my Shep gonna tear the Reapers to shreds.

I'm not as upset over the current ending as many, but it's not the same as playing it the first time around.

The EC ending might be better but the initial suprise and all is sorta lost. I still don't mind them giving it another shot though.

Yay, someone other than myself liked DA2, but hated the ending to ME3.

I am expecting it to be awesome. I am expecting it to bring tears to my eyes and make me want to replay the game over and over again in order to see new cutscenes and epilogue movie sequences. Just bring me that closure they have been mentioning.

But, if the EC still disregard all the choices made up to that moment, well, then I'm through with playing ME3.
It would just be too painful to see such a long fantastic journey ruined in a few minutes.

I truly hope it is awesome. If they give me an ending that makes sense (preferably a happy ending, but I am realistic) and stop forcing me to play the multi-player part of the game to get that ending than I will be happy. But no matter how awesome it is if they keep forcing what was a single player game into a multi player game, then its over.

It seems unlikely that it will be awesome given that they claim the ending won't actually be changed, but if they somehow manage to pull it off I'd be thrilled. It would mean I could actually play the Mass Effect games again, something I haven't been able to even imagine doing since finishing ME3.

They're are only adding to the ending, not changing it. Which means the themes that were only introduced in the last five minutes of the game and were incongruous with previously established themes will remain. Therefore, the Extended Cut might reach the level of 'good', but it will never reach the lofty heights of 'awesome'.

Well i gotta say if it is awesome I am still gonna be pissed because it wasn't in the game in the first place.

Which is the problem with human beings.  We're never satisfied.

Personally, I'd give Bioware props for fixing something that they really were under no obligation to fix.  If it sucks, I'll be disappointed, but if it is awesome, I'll be willing to forget that it wasn't there all along.

Sorry, but Bioware is under obligation to fix it if they want to avoid multiple cases around the world for false advertising etc. Also, if they wouldn't fix it - don't you think they'd lose a lot of fans? For example, of the +- 2000 ratings on MetaCritic for the game, over 75% or more (couldn't check all) has got serious problems with the ending, leading to a lot of (too low rated) 0-4s, quit a few 4-6s and a lot of 6-7s. 8, 9 and 10s are rare and when give are often derogatory regarding those who have got problems with the ending ('falsified', 'fake', telling to 'shut up', 'not true fans' etc).
Not surprisingly, also Bioware insults the people who have got problems with the game (or often more specific, the endings), by calling the large group 'some players' or 'vocal minority'. So far, ME3 is pissing me more off not only by the faulty game itself but also by the actions of Bioware (and advertising subsidiaries, known as gaming sites).

Never the less, they would have been smarter to do nothing, than the EC. As discussed before, few will be happy with the EC.
For me it is a vanity product: "See, you do not understand our artistic ending, let us explain it to you with the EC." No thanks.

I disagree I think the ending fits ok. It's not a blow you away spectacular ending. But I have been alot more dissapointed with endings in my time. I think alot of this has to do with one simple fact. The ending was vague as to the fate of the galaxy and how shephards decisions affect it. We get a few hints and can infer alot. But in the end no real explanation or epilogue is given to tell us what exactly became of all the characters and races we know and love. And that kind of open endedness makes a game feel incomplete. And is extremeley fustrating. If bioware answers those questions then I think this is definateley the right call. I think alot of people who campaign for a total remake would be quite surprised at how much better the ending could be with some necessary clarification. As a result I am optimistic about this DLC.

"they would have been smarter to do nothing"
Really?!
Maybe you haven't noticed the general mood on these forums for the past six weeks.
It seems Bioware are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

But that was rather due to developing and tacking on multiplayer. At least the message of postponing release coincides with a very excited Riccitello telling everyone how great multiplayer would be in a game like Mass Effect.

I don't believe in coincidences.

I know that Bioware ON THE WHOLE has the power to make it awesome.

I know that the people who MADE THE ENDINGS do not.

Assuming that it IS awesome, I will be willing to spend money on further products of Bioware. If not, my money goes to other developers who understand literary practice and don't feel that disemboweling a hamster and putting it on display counts as 'art'.
