The Striker is slightly usable precisely because you can slap a stability mod on it. I expect that's actually really viable on PC, when you have a better shot at making all the shots hit and perma-stagger an enemy.

I enjoy turian soldier so much and experimented a lot of builds. Revenant is actually good if you have it at decent level but you always have to be in cover. I raped a Geth Prime with Revenant+Marksman in few seconds, but you have to spec for headshot bonus damage and aim head.
Then I tried heavy pistol path, works good against normal enemies but it's not great against bosses (viable though)... Unfortunately I don't have Talon, so I tried with a Paladin.
After respec I tried adding Concussive Shot. I wasn't a huge fan of this skill, but I have to admit it's useful. Just put 3 points in it: has a very fast cool down and the animation is similar to Throw. Very fast and makes curves to avoid obstacles. It staggers, so you can aim head better, and gives you time to escape if you are badly injured. Plus, it's a finisher against weak enemies.
Concussive Shot is very good against phantoms actually.
How do you make it work against Phantoms? It just makes them block/dodge for me, accomplishing little.

I'll have to dust them off and keep trying.
Currently I use the Revenant with the same build.

No, seriously, how is a concussive shot useful against Phantoms? I mean, I guess it's kinda sorta okay if their barriers are down, but that kinda defeats the whole "effective against barriers" pitch.
It drains barriers and forces them to dodge; after each dodge, you shoot. It's not the best but barring certain weapons it's the TS's only defense against them.

The Revenant forces you to be exposed too much; it also has an ungodly long reload time.

Thanks for the guide Stardusk. It's always been one of my favourite classes - I use identical builds to you. Out of interest, have you tried the Tempest? It may be inferior to the hornet, but it is still surprisingly good on Gold (even against armored targets). I don't have the Hornet at X yet, so I use the Tempest X instead.
The Tempest is very good as well and you don't need to do the burst fire thing so definitely a good alternative.

It doesn't drain barriers though. It bounces off of their defensive moves if it hits them at all.

Try the Phaeston. More than double the clip of the Hurricane (yes, really, the Hurricane actually only has 20 bullets, the ammo indicator is flat out lying to you), pinpoint accuracy and perfect stability in Marksman, and better mods than the SMGs. The end result means you don't need to use a boatload of consumable equipment, including the very valuable AP ammo, to make it work.

Ha, and I forgot that we were talking SMGs, here--they don't have a stability mod option. I'm so used to playing with ARs on my Turians.

I have tested the Striker, you run out of ammo after one group of enemies. The build up in fire is too slow. Not an efficient weapon imo.

I was playing with the talon build earlier, and with a Talon II, targeting VI, and cryo 3, i was one shotting phantoms (headshot) under marksman. The accuracy build is very effective.
If weapon damage is maxed out along with headshot and marksman headsho and a targeting VI,OSOK is definitely possible.

If only I could get a Talon. I have a Javelin VIII. Javelin is all the game will give me in terms of black label weaponry.
You will eventually. I just want a Talon V for now but after dozens of spectre packs, only character cards.

I will try this out. I really like the Hornet but I am open to other ideas. I don't have the hurricane but a Hurricane I seems way too limited in ammo. I think I will try out AP mod and damage barrel on the Phaeston.

When you factor in skills & consumables Hurricane does about *2.5 (X veision - even at version I hurricanse has massive DPS lead over phaeston) more DPS than Phaeston on turian soldier ... And in capable hands the turian soldier can put most of this DPS on target ... Yes the ammo is low, yes it eats up precious AP ammo charges ...But you get raw weapon melting power few other weapon & class combinations can compete with ...

The Hurricane is definitely better than the Phaeston if you're willing to spend an unsustainable amount of consumable equipment on it. I can't stand the Revenant though.

I am going to experiment with 2 weapon builds so I might take a Phaeston along with something else. Watching your Hurricane vid I was shocked how little ammo the Hurricane has. I imagine that at level V + ammo will be less of an issue but that ammo issue could be a real problem.

The Hurricane's ammo indicator actually lies to you, telling you it has twice the ammo it actually carries.
You know, kinda like Submission Net telling you it does massive damage to armor.

Pretty much same build as your talon focus, but shield for all 3 choices. Then a phaeston with damage and piercing. Try it at least once, it's amazing for headshots of instant doom.
Edit: lol I suppose I'm late to mentioning this and that's what I get for not reading beyond page 1.
