Hi,
I am trying to run ME2, steam version, on my iMAC under windows 7. The imac is usign a Radeon 6700M and when I try and launch ME2 it complains there is no physicX, which isnt an ATI thing so its not something I can just install.
When I try and run this:
steamapps\\common\\bioware\\mass effect 2\\redist folder\\physicX it starts then exits with error "Y: drive unavailable"
which is a share drive I have for downloads. Disconnecting the share still gives the error.
Anyway around this?
ME2 steam version and radeon (physx)

Damn, that's bad timing. You can install it, or something that installs a version of it for ATI cards (can't recall which) but I was just having a tidy up of my Windows drive yesterday and I deleted the installer and cleared a bunch of bookmarks including where I got it from. I'll look into it and see if I can't recover one or the other but rest assured that there is a solution for this, and if you start googling you may even find it yourself first.
Edited to add: just done a quick search myself and found this, which says it's just a matter of downloading and installing software from nvidia which will run PhysX on the CPU instead of the card (there's a link provided there, though there's a later version here). Funny, I seem to remember it being more involved than that when I did it but probably I'm just misremembering things. I can remember wishing I'd kept a PC for gaming when I switched to Macs all those years ago but I certainly had it all working soon enough. One thing though - you probably do this anyway but since PhysX is using the CPU I'd boot camp into Windows rather than use a VM like Parallels. I find the performance reduction using Parallels enough as it is, though that might be more because my Mac is getting a bit long in the tooth now.
