Hey guys, so I recently got a copy of NW2 from a friend, he didn't want the game anymore so I took it off his hands. However, after installing the game, updating it and installing the expansions, I am running into a glitch. I only have a single option for each race when it comes to subraces, everything else is just empty space. I did a seach, been trying to fix it for the past 9 hours now. I have reinstalled the game twice, checked at various points during the updating process, and have tried a few mods that people recommended. So far I have no solutions to this problem, and it is very annoying. Not to mention that there is little information on the internet to fix it.

Clear your my docs/nwn2/override folder. Almost assuredly you have a bad tlk file.

I tried that, no fix. There is nothing there in the initial install.

I'm 100% sure the tlk file is corrupt or being overriden. The dialog.tlk is what controls that.

I tried that. I deleted the TLK and it none of the text showed up in game. I even installed the game from a different disk and it still didn't work. This is really annoying.

EDIT: It definitely is not the Dialog.TLK. All of the dialog is fine, that is not the issue. The issue is missing subraces.

Use this known good tlk.

Make sure you have no dialog.tlk in your override. Despite the name, the dialog.tlk doesn't control in game dialogs, it's a reference for text strings.

I was able to fix it. I had to uninstall the game, rip/extract the dvd to my harddrive, delete the DirectX install folder, download the DirectX redistributable package, and reinstall the game. I had to turn off my antivirus when I installed and updated it.

EDIT: Thanks for the above link. If anything happens again I'll be using that, I did all this after posting last time.
