Trying to get some input on the best order in which to run through the game.

I had hoped to play an Arcane Warrior, but missed the phylactery when I went through, and ended up not getting it till lvl 15, so I sadly dont see myself gaining many lvls in that area.

Now I also LOVE Wynne, so running the tower early is a must. Oghren isn't terribly useful in my opinion so I'm not too picky about when I pick him up.

Based on what I want, I feel like Tower, Forest, Mines, Redcliff in that order?

Anything else I should keep in mind?

After Lothering, for me worked :

Shale (must have... too awesome)

Broken Circle

Nature of the Beast

Arl something redcliff

A paragon of her kind.

Also, between Shale and the tower, I visit Denerim for a level or two of side quests.

Lothering then Broken Circle, you've got to have Wynne in your party.

I've tried a couple of ways round now. I think the easiest route is to go to the Circle of Mages first to get Wynne so you have some healing power early on.

However, I think if you've gotten the hang of the game and the combat, I preferred going to Redcliffe first, it's a bit harder but not by much and I think it follows the story better. Alistair is obviously very keen to go there and that made me think it was where I was being nudged to go.

But really, I feel the main thing is to leave the dwarves till later, some sections there could be a bit tough if you went with fewer abilities.

Just my tuppence. :)

The Prima Official Strategy Guide recommends you do it in this order;

1. Broken Circle

2. Redcliffe

3. Denerim sidequests

4. Urn of Sacred Ashes

5. Paragon of the Own Kind

6. Nature of the Beast

I did this on my second and now third playthrough. First playthrough I did it in a completely different order with the circle third and Urn last... The Prima-way feels like the best way to go since it has a very nice flow for the sidequests and requires the least running back and forth all through Ferelden.

I found nature of the beast to be very easy. On the current play through I've done:

Broken Circle, Shale, Redcliff, Nature of the Beast, Denerim, Urn, Paragon.

If you're playing a mage and want to get Blood Mage early, wouldn't Redcliffe be the logical place to start?

Depends on your character choice too - an archery rogue may want to get the Dalish bows sooner, a mage who doesn't have Blood Mage unlocked may want to prioritize Redcliffe

On my first play through I went:

1. Redcliffe

2. Denerim sidequests

3. Urn of Sacred Ashes

4. Nature of the Beast

5. Broken Circle

6. Paragon

Now I understand why the game play was kinda all over the place for me.

Never thought about redcliff being so hard, I finished two playthroughs using Alistair's recommendation of going to redcliff first. Damn I really need an uber nightmare difficulty this time.

I think on my next playthrough I will do Broken Circle first. If I ever run into a tough patch, I can use Wynne and Morrigan together for two mages. I intend to up the difficulty next time.

Doing the Urn at 4 means trying to kill a Dragon at that stage. I did the Urn last, which helped.

I did Nature of the Beast, Paragon, Redcliffe, Broken Circle, started on Denerim and sidequests, then Urn, and now I'm finishing Denerim stuff.

I need to replay since apparently there is an ending you can only get if no one dies at Redcliffe. Oops.

I just usually futz around, although this is my sixth or so character and third playthrough.
