is there a nerf for cunning build rogue in 1.02? since i notice my rogue's displayed damage in character sheet is at least 3 points lower than it was before the patch.
he has (with items bonus) 49 dex and 70 cunning.
this really sucks.
cunning rogue does less damage with 1.02?!?!?

Yeah, it sucks. 3 less points of damage per hit ? Terrible, indeed... /sarcasm

It's the dagger bugfix.

The drop is detailed in the DPS rogue thread floating around somewhere. It's not as much a nerf as a fix for unintended awesomeness
. But yes, the difference really isn't that much.

What 3 points of damahe is like a..... 2 percent reduction?
#7
Posté 08 décembre 2009 - 01:05
used to be about 43.x/43.x, now 40.x/40.x
this is with 49 dex and 70 cunning (with items)

a nerf would be intentionally reducing the effectiveness of something that was too strong by its original design. force field, cone of cold, blizzard, and crushing prison were actually nerfed like this in 1.02.
the dagger thing is a fix of a bug. the intended behavior for daggers was to split str/dex (or cun/dex for Lethality rogues) instead of working entirely on strength. this was consistent for a weapon intended to be used by characters with lower strength scores and will be a performance increase for players who built their characters intuitively. it also results in a VERY minor unintended decrease in damage to players who carefully min maxed based on their knowledge of the bugged status of the game.
but really its inconsequential. totally inconsequential. 3 points of damage doesn't matter even a little bit. it won't affect your game experience in any meaningful way.

No, single stat dependency has more potential for a min/maxed character.

Nope, damage would go down, because of the lower Dex that is now included in the calculations.
However, if the patch is correct, and you are now getting 0.5/0.5, that is pretty good, because daggers used to be 0.85 of STR or CUN if using Lethality.

I guess it's cause before, it was .85 str, meaning cun with lethality. Now it's 50/50 cun/dex with your character. The upside is characters can focus on dexterity and increase attack rating and damage and dodge, instead of just damage and ap.

Wait, so with the new patch, where is the best place to put points for archers (Cunning or Dex) and what is the best place for dagger wielders (Cunning or Dex)?

Don't worry, you can still get top dps on Onyxia.

Posté 08 décembre 2009 - 03:53
Cunning/daggers is still the best single-target dps as long as you can get enough attack rating from buffs. 3 damage per hit is trivial.

I'm guessing the 85% modifier is added afterwards. So first you get 50% damage from strength and then multiply by 85% and that is your damage from strength.
