I cannot comment on the warrior and rogue armors throughout the game, simply because I stick to playing a mage.

The robes in Origins were not that bad, but the reason they were not bad because your character did not have as much bending and turning animation as in Dragon Age 2.

Then when you come across a mage robe that looks, OK, I start wanting to change it myself to make it better.

An example of this would be “The Robes of the Void.” During Act 2, I spent a good amount of it wearing this robe. However, I desperately wanted to alter it, reason being is I immediately thought of Santa Clause.

What I would have done:

*Removed the long sleeves and the fabric on the shoulders.

*Create a calf slit up both sides of the robe.

*Removed that ugly white fur around the middle of the robe.

*For the boots, removed the high heel look and created flat boots and the boots go up to the calf of the leg.

When it comes to Robes for female mages in Dragon Age 2, it looks constricting for my character, itchy and a bathrobe. Other mage robes come off looking like bed sheets.

And idea for a robe in Dragon Age 3 would be this.

I would change the robe color to a nice burgundy and put a pair of black pants under it and complete it with a pair of calf high flat black boots.

The robe above is simple, elegant and does not give off that bathrobe/bed sheet or constricting look. And to me it fits in nicely with the DA world.

While I'm happy that mages could wear pants, I hated some of the outfits.

What's up with the shoulders? It looks like she's wearing a life vest.

I mean, what was mage Hawke wearing at the beginning of the game? It looks like a life vest...

ROTF! Well, Kirkwall, was near the ocean. Maybe Hawke felt the need to be prepared all the time. :P

Oh that reminds me, I did not get that mage outfit either, uh "Overseer" I think its called.

Yes, please make chantry robe outfit for my mage to wear considering the chantry basically hates mage. <shakes head>

You mean this one? I think it looks nice, but it reminds me way too much of the robes that were worn by the sisters in the Chantry.

I liked the robes in DAO as the Warden was a Circle Mage recruited into the Grey Wardens, but Mage Hawke is an apostate and running around in blatant "I'm a Mage!" clothing.

I wasn't a fan of the Chantry styled robes either though. I firmly stuck to the DLC item packs' gear as soon as I got them. More designs like the Fugitive's Mantle, Malcolm's Bequest and Aldenon's Vestments would be very welcome.

I like the idea that the you posted, Cantina. Especially since it looks like it could be Orlesian robes.
Even though I must admit I liked the robes in Dragon Age 2, I do want clothes with more...manueverablity. I mean, traveling across Fereldan/Free Marches/Deep Roads should require clothes less likely to snag onto rocks and make the PC trip. And it would make it easier for a mage to run from the scary warrior hitting them with a really sharp sword.

Something like adre-es.deviantart.com/art/mage-robe-fandesigns-DA2-210912138 would look nice, in my opinion. They look magey and are easy to move in.

The armor in DA2 seemed too cartoonish, particularly the rouge and warrior armors, and just didn't look functional compared to the DAO armor, IMO.

I really liked the Warden robes for mages. The armours were good too, but especially the robes. DA3 needs more like this! I like the collar, the leather gauntlets/boots, and the swishy bits around the legs. And most importantly, the fact that they are robes with trousers, and not a gaudy-looking dress.

Robes are terrible in general. The lot of them.

Give me some damn pants and armor.

Did not mind this, so much, but did not wear it simply because I felt silly wearing Warden gear and not being a Warden. Wish you could have dyed it to a diffrent color.

Revamp all the robes. The robes were so ugly in DA2 that I invested some points into strength for my mage so he could wear armor. The only good mage armor was the Champion Mage Armor which is awesome. Two Worlds 2 had some good mage clothing:

Dragon's Dogma looks like it has some good mage robes too:

Those abominations in Dragon Age 2 looked terrible.

Well the problem is too, I wanted to try my hand at building a Battle Mage, something I did back in Origins. Its not as easy trying to build such a character with the limited amount of spells that were available. Not only that there was only one piece of battle mage armor in the game. It was ugly and the stats were pathetic on it.

I have seen Mods create some nice robes, but I play on the Xbox. I dunno, find it kind of sad that Modders can create better robes then the people actually developing the game.

Speaking of Mods, I noticed one set (cannot recall the name) was very nice and the stats improved as you leveled on it. Too bad the very limited armor you found in the game was not like that all. Sucked finding a armor set that was tolerated as wearing it only to level up and have to wear something that was so ugly my polyester wearing grandmother would not touch it.

I agree, it did feel weird wearing Warden armour when Hawke's not a Warden (kept reminding me that I wish my actual Warden had it). This kind of style I would like to see again though - something practical, and lightly armoured, but still mage-y enough to be distinct from rogue armour.
