I would have loved to have seen Liara hook up with another squadmate if I didn't pick her.

I figured it would be Feron. In LotSB she doesn't say "no", she just says "not right now."

I am pro-non-Shep-hookups. I approve of Tali+Garrus, Liara+Feron, Ken+Gabby, Joker+EDI (sort of... turning EDI into a sex robot was kind of weird, I thought).

Joker, I'm sorry, I can't risk crew injury...I'm going to have to test out EDI first.

I would've been fine with them getting together as long as they gave Shepard a few different reactions. They could've done it like DA2 where the autodialogue that Hawke says depends on his moral alignment. So if you're paragon, Shepard would still say "I'm happy for you". If you're mostly renegade then Shepard would've responded in a more renegadish way. Honestly, I have no idea what he would say but as a previous poster stated, "I'm happy for you" just sounds too paragonish.

Yes, but what does that have to do with stopping them from getting together?...

No, and considering the ending where they starve to death, why would you want to deny them a little happiness?

Honestly, if Garrus wants to put up with her obnoxious ass, more power to him.

Well aren't you guys a couple of dicks.

Indeed. Also, I wish people would stop putting the "douchebag"label on Renegade.

Well, for ME1 and ME2, I'd agree, but with the exception of 3 or 4 awesome renegade interrupts, Renegade pretty much is douche for ME3.

Renegade Shepard was a much bigger douche in the first two games. Most of the stuff Shepard says in ME3 is autodialogue. Almost all of the autodialogue is either neutral or paragonish. Even the actualy renegade dialogue options we get are waaaay friendlier in this game. In the past games, we were able to treat out squadmates like crap. We can't do that in ME3. Yeah there are a few renegade options that can be consdered super extreme (ie-killing Mordin, or Samara's daughter) but they're pretty few in number. Overall, the ME3 renegade is a much more reasonable and less intimidating individual.

Yeah, ok, so you can do renegade and not be a douche in ME3? There were a few things in ME1 and ME2 I couldn't bring myself to do as a renegade, but was still able to max out on renegade points (likewise, there were some renegade options I just HAD to take), so I guess I can just be a badass without being a douche in ME3? Ok.

Tbh I missed that in my first (and only) playthrough. And I am glad I did. Not because I hate them being happy, but there is a reason I didn't romance Tali. Well, aside from Liara. Simply they could not have children. It would be better for them to romance someone ... matching. I don't know why they suddenly fall in love either. I mean there was never any tension or anything and suddenly for no reason ... bam. Blah bad writing etc rant. I really don't know why I bother with Bioware or this forum still. It just shows me again and again why I shouldn't be here or play their games at all.

I take it you didn't romance Miranda then, since she can't have children...

No I didn't but I didn't even know it. I went with Liara to begin with. I just didn't feel like starting something that has no future for no reason, since I ... you know ... didn't really fall in love with either Liara or Tali ... or anyone. Guess I am weird to make a rational choice about love in a video game.

Aside from that it is a weak asspull with Tali and Garrus. If they had something going on from early on ok, But only because Shepard doesn't mate them ... bleh ... bad writing, which just shows Bioware doesn't care about their characters or let them evolve, they treat them like puppets who can do funny tricks. I despise it to no end.

I dont really understand why this is a big deal.... I liked Garrus and Tali together, it was way more awkward seeing Garrus with Liara together....

Heh Liara x Garrus. That could happen in one of my Talimance playthroughs if Feron was dead.

How dare Garrus touch my waifu in an alternate universe where this Shep has no interest in her!?
Cheating across dimensions still counts!

I wasn't aware allowing genocide, betraying and killing multiple friends, and having zero remorse for anything outside of the mission was considered 'friendly', especially compared to the ME2 renegade Shep, who can, oh noes, be RUDE to people!

Moron.

It feels weird and wrong regardless of alignment, really. And no, short of romancing or killing either one of them, you can't stop them from hooking up. Which is sad.

Oh please! Shepard can bang pretty much anything with 2 legs in the game, but that is *wrong*?

And the IS a way to stop them from romancing. Just don't go disturb Garrus in his calibrations, especially towards the end of the game. There, whole romance never happened.

If anything, I like to think that she goes to Garrus as sort of a way of getting back at Shep for rejecting her. I mean, she poured her heart out to my renegade Shep in the 2nd game, and what was his answer? "You're in love with me? LOL. Cute. But seriously, I don't do alien chicks, capeche?"

So then she was like "Fine, I'll hook up with Garrus and make him jealous!" Renegade Shep's response? "That's nice, I guess. I'll be over here banging Jack, keep me posted."

...god, my renegade Shep is a dick.

I loved that the characters didn't exist to only respond to the player's whims (a huge pet peeve I have in RPGs in general) and felt that it was a great scene. Hilarious too!

Because I didn't realize what was going on the first time I did it. I was just wandering around the ship, checking up on everyone. Then I go to see how Garrus is doing, and what do I find? Him attempting to make out with my secret crush.

Am sad.

I considered this at one point, but then I realized I was just coming up with my own explanation for what really is a nonsensical pairing and situation.  I really just think the devs threw it in there for comic relief.  I think it comes down to whether or not one feels that characters acting out of character for the sake of a little humor makes sense for a series like this.

I personally didn't like it b/c I just felt it wasn't believeable for the two characters in question.  But a lot of people seemed to enjoy the dialogue, so more power to them.
