Okay, this is just getting goofy.  I changed my mind - the asexual elevator banter in ME2 truly does lay the foundation for the greatest love story ever told.  I'm surprised they didn't have sex right there in the middle of the Citadel with how hot & heavy that exchange was!

Your exaggeration does you no credit.

You wanted something to happen in the game that makes their initiating a hookup at the very end of ME3 plausible.

You have been presented with casual conversation throughout the series, conversation that takes a decidedly flirtatious tone in ME3 (the video even leaves out the lines on the Geth dreadnaught), which puts the Tali+Garrus scene at the end in a quite believable light.

What else do you want?

It takes a decidedly flirtatious tone in the last 1/6 (or so) of the trilogy.  It's forced.  If any other two characters were there for the whole series but didn't get romantic until the final half of the final game, I'd be saying the same thing.

man...

a simple question and yet, almost everyone is being idiots.

it's not offensive. I'm not really sure besides to either have them killed or not have Tali loyal in ME2. Actually if you had Tali "exiled" she doesn't join you on Normandy but I believe she dies cause of the whole Geth and Quarian battle.

but yeah,  if you look up ME Wiki......says they end up together.

there needs to be a renegade interrupt. One of many things BW decided to "rush" in making the third installment of the series........supposely Epic which.....a big disappointment IMO

I disagree. Doesn't seem forced at all. But whatever you say, holmes.

Is there any way to stop inane threads like this from being posted? Sadly, I don't think so.

Generally when a romance begins and ends in the final sixth of a story, the romance is being forced.  I understand you wanted the two of them to get together, but the devs just didn't lay the foundation for it appropriately.

I love how far out of context people are taking this xD Is there seriously 6 pages of this?

Is there a way to stop them from getting together without resorting to ignoring, killing or romancing one of them? It just feels weird to have my renegade Shep say "I'm happy for you two". God damn autodialogue...

When a Renegade say "I am happy for you two" or any other "nice" things... they could mean it "evilly" like: "I am happy that you two losers finally found someone dumb enough to fall for you"

Nup... no problem with auto-dialogue

Garrus x Tali makes the same sense as Shep x Garrus or Shep x Tali. The scene was quite cute and funny tbh. Also, I really was happy that there is any non-shep relationship.

Also, Deathstroke got it right.

It makes no sense at all, actually.  Tali saying "I'm only using you for your body," despite likely still being a virgin?  Or Garrus spending all of ME2 keeping to himself doing calibrations and the like?  Now all of a sudden he's Leisure Suit Garrus mackin on the ladies?  Give me a break.

that was a joke.

And they've known each other for over two years, including ME1 when they were in the same area and there was no gun for Garrus to calibrate. How is it unrealistic.

It's NOT unrealistic.  And even if it is, it's nothing to get that upset or concerned over.  Hence the reason this thread is pointless.

The whole thing was a joke.  They threw it in at the end for the people like you who wanted to see it.

I'm talking about the story as told in the game.  That's all I'm talking about.  I'm not referring to what you imagined happened between them during their downtime or between games.

It concerned you enough where you felt the need to capitalize the "NOT".

Seriously, I'm glad that you got your wish to see them together.  That's why they threw it in there.  So I can see why they chose to throw it in (the demand is certainly there; as evidenced herein).  Still...it's forced.

Yep.  It was just a question.  Maybe some people wanted the option to say something other than they are happy for them?  Some people want to be mean about it, even if it doesnt mean sabotaging the relationship.  I wouldnt, but if you wanna be a dick in an rpg... well it is an rpg.

I don't think anyone cares that he didn't want to say something nice. It's just weird that he wanted to actively go out of his way to stop it to the point he asked on a message board how he could.

Or he could have been bored and was just popping it out there? People have made boards for dumber reasons.
Either way, this has been really taken over the top. Poor OP.

Just to those who are seeing the romance SUDDENLY in the final sixth of the game; did you have Kaiden or Ashley alive in your playthrough?

There is a known bug where none of their build up dialogue happens until the very end when they are making out unless you have romanced/become close friends with Ashley. Its a problem with the flag system, a bug got fixed that made a bug in a previous flag. It also stops Kenneth and Gaby's dialogue showing their affection for each other as well.

Basically, if you have Kaiden or through the events in ME1 or 3 lost Ashley, you won't hear any build up. Then, out of the blue they are together.

This may or may not quell the problems with build up.

You know, not every relationship starts with long, drawn-out drama or an extended courtship period. Sometimes all it takes is one day Tali noticing Garrus doin' his calibrating, and Garrus noticing Tali doing some noticing and saying, "How YOU doin?"

I mean really, did Liara not decide she was utterly obsessed with you after one mind-melding?

That just shows how little you actually know.  I didn't "want" to see it.  I romanced Tali in the game, and Garrus in the femshep playthrough.  I never got the scene.  But even if I did, it wouldn't bother me to the point where I wanted a way to actively stop it.  Seriously, why would you even want to?  Get a life.

Whether it's forced or not is moot.  I don't think it is, but that's my opinion.  But the fact that the OP got upset over it, wanted to actually stop it, and the reasons he/she gave are so laughably stupid I couldn't believe it was actually done in seriousness.  But oh well, whatever helps people feel better.  B)

Renegade shep isn't inherently evil. He just has zero patience for bullsh*t and a tendency to punch people in the face.

I'm with you OP, I didn't want to see it either. I found it more awkward than funny. I did like that it showed they had a life outside of Shepard, though, but they should have at least given me a renegade option. Something along the lines of "You've got to be kidding me", or "You aren't even the same species", or in the case of a strong military Shepard, "That's enough. This is a military operation, I won't have you two fraternizing on my ship."

(and then Garrus could mumble something like; "but it's alright for you to spend half the night "fraternizing" with Major Alenko..."
Shepard: "What was that, Garrus?"
"Nothing. Excuse me, Sir, I have to get back to my calibrations.")

I didn't go out of my way. I haven't even played the game in like a
week. The thought just came to my head while I was on BSN and I decided
to post about it because I was curious. To be honest, the real issue
here isn't even the relationship, its the autodialogue. Of course, this
scene is just one of many examples where control is taken away from
Shepard. Most of the time, the autodialogue works well but sometimes it
doesn't. Like the scene with Conrad Verner, I was annoyed that we didn't
get any actual dialogue options there either. Treating Conrad like crap
was always hilarious. I would've been fine with this relationship thing
if there was an option to say something other than "I'm happy for you
two". Something more sarcastic would've worked well for renegade
Shepard. But yeah, I guess that goes against what I said originally. I
should probably change the title of this thread but I think its better
if we just let this thread die instead. I really wasn't trying to offend
anyone.
