I loved that the characters didn't exist to only respond to the player's whims (a huge pet peeve I have in RPGs in general) and felt that it was a great scene. Hilarious too!

Although I never do a playthrough with anyone as Shepard's romance other than Tali, the thought of Garrus and Tali in someone else's game is a relief actually. It shows that not every character in the entire series is there simply to interact with Shepard, and can make their own decisions sometimes.

Besides, it only shows up in the last section of the game, and it's no more than a few lines of dialogue. It's hardly an impact on the story.

If you don't like it, romance or kill one of them, otherwise quit being a c-block.

I would have loved to have seen Liara hook up with another squadmate if I didn't pick her.

I figured it would be Feron. In LotSB she doesn't say "no", she just says "not right now."

I am pro-non-Shep-hookups. I approve of Tali+Garrus, Liara+Feron, Ken+Gabby, Joker+EDI (sort of... turning EDI into a sex robot was kind of weird, I thought).

Liara + Javik > all

If any asari deserves to have a Prothean daughter, it's her!

I'll admit, while this sort of relationship would seem forced so late in a story, if the world is on the brink of extinction and there's a chance you're about to die, I'm not against a couple of old friends hooking up. You never know, it might be the last chance they're able to with anyone, so it may as well be with someone they know and respect.

Probably a good thing too, considering the ending.

The map shows them in there together whether you walk in or not. If anything, not walking in could actually be worse (if you have some hang-up like the OP does anyway.)

A lot of players around here seem to have such a God complex, wanting to control everyone and everything that happens. We're the players, RPing within the game, not the DMs/writers. You have about as much power to control every part of every squadmate's life IG as you do every coworker's life IRL.

Liara: Grrr - you're so rough around the edges.
Javik: That is what your Father said last night.
Liara: 0_o
Javik: By the way, I must return Glyph to you. We thought to "document" our enounter for your research on my People's mating habits.
Liara: Goddess, I hope this is a delusion and I'm still trapped in that bubble on Therum.

I was really surprised when I found Tali and Garrus hooked up at the Normandy. They hardly spend any time together otherwise. But other than either romancing one of them, of killing one of them, no. No way to stop them.

It is their individual choice. You can't control everything.

Yes, but SOME stuff actually has to happen in the game to make it believeable.  I could just say off the top of my head that the entire Normandy crew has bi-sexual orgies every night, but that wouldn't make sense given the complete lack of context for such an event in the game.

some stuff does happen.

and stuff happens in the previous games too.

HAHA.  I missed some of these.  Thanks for linking!

Garrus may remind me of myself more than I'd like to admit >.>

My only problem with their relationship was Shepard's forced dialogue.

Tbh I missed that in my first (and only) playthrough. And I am glad I did. Not because I hate them being happy, but there is a reason I didn't romance Tali. Well, aside from Liara. Simply they could not have children. It would be better for them to romance someone ... matching. I don't know why they suddenly fall in love either. I mean there was never any tension or anything and suddenly for no reason ... bam. Blah bad writing etc rant. I really don't know why I bother with Bioware or this forum still. It just shows me again and again why I shouldn't be here or play their games at all.

wtf man what is going on with you when they love each other they should be together

Actually there is a very complicated formula for preventing Tali and Garrus from romancing each other in Mass Effect 3 without romancing or killing either of them.

During Mass Effect 1:
1). Punch Manuel on Eden Prime.
2). Only find 9 (and *exactly* 9) of the Asari Matriarch Writings.
3). Tell Vigil that you've made a deal with the Reapers and his services will no longer be required.

Mass Effect 2:
1). Take all of the neutral options when talking to TIM.
2). Do not recruit Samara.
3). Jacob must be the team leader both times during the Suicide Mission.

Mass Effect 3:
1). Kill Eva Core before the final cut scene activates on Mars.
2). Divide by zero.
3). ???
4). Profit!

I thought it was weird because ME2 hinted quite heavily at the possibility of something happening between Tali and Kal'Reegar. Then they kill him off in an e-mail and suddenly Garrus and Tali are together. No buildup, no foreshadowing. You just walk in on them. I didn't really care about it but I thought it was completely pointless and random.

They don't love each other. They just make out because Bioware told them so anyway. Just saying.
