In ME2 it happened in pretty much every mission and usually multiple times. I miss that, it made me feel less alone. Less like I was playing a game and more like I was on a team.

What are you talking about? In ME2 one of the biggest problems was the lack of party banter. Squad comments were extremely rare and replacable. The times where someone would actually say something that fits their character and the situation were so rare that people make youtube videos of it. ME3 had much more banter in my opinion, except for the last mission, because it sucks and was rushed.

Aye i really truly felt that multiplayer has no place in mass effect. Especially as buggy and choppy as it turned out i would have far preferred they channeled those resources into the campaign.

Now don't get me wrong i think multiplayer IS fun and that the me engine works for it. But what bioware should have done was wait till the dlc was done with then produced a totally new game something like MASS EFFECT : N7 or something.

I was thinking the exact same thing reading that.

I love how people blame multiplayer being the problem when BioWare had stated the game was complete back in November, they just decided to "iron out the bugs" and implement kinect. If you want to blame anything blame that damn kinect thing.

I've heard multiplayer was done by a different team?
And yeah. Kinect was useless, nothing but a gimmick.. I'll say that much.

Don't get defensive on me, and youre argument is thin. Half the side quests are multiplayer maps with a few extra triggers in them. Nothing near as many or as atmospheric as me1 or even me2. Theres definately alot of recycling A'la Dragon Age 2 going on in the core of the game. I don't care when they "finished" optimising the engine and the classes for multiplayer had to cut into the development time wether you like to admit it or not. No game developer works with unlimited time so if its included it definately took some of that time.

Now I think you are just whining for the sake of it. Watch out for the pools of tears when you enter the thread guys you might slip and fall to this guy's level.

RPG = long missions?

Not necessarily, but for me they are a factor in making a RPG... I'm sure people disagree, and that's fine.

RPGs tend to have more areas to explore away from the main path, where the player can find some extra minor quests or a bit of loot. Shooters tend to just have one path to keep the player always moving forward, always in the action. (Notice my use of the word "tend" ... I know there will be examples of both genres that break this rule).

The ME3 missions were certainly shorter than ME1, possibly shorter than ME2 ... but I'm actually going to say that it didn't bother me too much on this occasion. The Reaper war demanded urgency, and I think the short "get in, get it done, get out" feel to the missions helped to create that atmosphere.

i have started playing recently and for now my biggest disappointment is how short missions are.
I still have to witness the ending, but these short missions are really bothering me.
In ME2 missions weren't that short, and there were a lot of them.
Even if they say it's not true, my first impression is that is obvious that the introduction of multiplayer was made at single player expenses.

The missions were too short, not enough missions, many of them sucked, too many sidequests where you just fetch a scan on a planet after eavesdropping, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I would much rather have Dragon Age style party banter added in, but in ME2 there were battle cries and whenever you'd do or say something your squad would comment. Like when you go into the quarantine zone Garrus will say something like "a zone with a plague that kills Turians, why can't we ever go somewhere nice?" and others will have other things to say. I didn't get any of that in ME3. If it's there and for some reason not showing up in my game, I'd like to know how to fix it. They do say stuff in the shuttle BEFORE the mission, but when you're actually there it feels like you're alone.

Yes. Definitely yes. We needed more than 3/4 decent side missions and we needed at least one other hub world. I was expecting a Thessia hubworld but noooooooo! BW/EA are too cheap for that.

Yes, they were too short....or maybe there should have been more of them.

I say this b/c I thought the pace was good. I think there should have been more rather than each being longer.

thessia was way to short.

Thessia would have been awesome if we'd gotten to see more of it.  Unfortunately, the only part of it we got to see was the plot driven part so that we could get our butts kicked in cinematics (even if we kicked butt in the actual fight).

Yes   =)    I agree, we did not see enough of Thessia. Would love to have it as a hub-world pre falling or something like that. Just to be able to see it before it was burning. And that mission was great, it is one of my fav's. But it was too short.

What you're looking for is still there though.  Take the turian rescue mission on Tuchanka.  During that mission you have your squadmates comment on how you get to take the Reaper forces by surprise, how the lieutenant has a lot to live up to, and how good it feels to save the turians.  Or the Ardat-Yakshi monastery, where they will comment on how creepy things are, the appearane of the Banshee, and even the decor.

As for mission length, it does seem like each mission is a bit shorter.  But some of that is that there is less walking, each mission is more compact.  I also seem to die less and spend less time in cover in most missions, so the fights go by quicker.  Some fights can be infuriatingly hard with the wrong build/squad though, like Grissom Academy, or the last big fight on Earth.  That made the mission seem longer.

When you are done wiping the tears read the part where we mentioned Kinect being the main focus for the last 3 or so months of development. If by made your case you mean complain then yes we all understand you are butthurt. Why not dig up an old "anti-ending" thread so you can be with your friends.

Earth should have been over 9000 hours long, and I agree that the others were overall too short.

That's true, although I suppose it would just mean a lot more to me if there were cutscenes and decisions scattered throughout. There are a few comments like you said along the lines of "Canned orders over loudspeaker? classy" but I find it's missing all of the little interactive bits like getting the wounded merc to radio his friends with bad intel and then questioning him and hearing your squad comments. I guess there's less banter style dialogue or comments because there's a lot less for your squadmates to comment on.

I think that we don't have a vehicle is also a factor.
In ME1 you have the Mako to explore a large area in the side missions and as connection between the different locations in the main missions.
In ME2 the missions with the Hammerhead are much more varied then the mssions without it. Prime example is the Overlord DLC.
