(That would be cool, actually - if they changed the ToS to allow mods, but to do a hash check on the coalesced file. If it differed, you wouldn't be eligible for rewards, but you could still have fun with other people.)

My suggestion/pipe dream has always been a "~/Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect 3/BIOGame/Mods/Custom.ini" which overrides anything from C.bin and the DLCs' .bins. This functionality already exists for GamerSettings.ini (stores overrides for a few things like graphics/engine settings), so it presumably wouldn't be too much work to adapt to modding. Then just forcibly lock you into 0 credits, 0 xp, and not counting toward weekend events if C.bin has been modified or Custom.ini is loaded/exists.

Then just include a basic loader to enable/disable mod(s) on startup if the .ini file exists, and/or select from any .ini file in the directory. People allowed to make mods per ToS (via the .ini only), and would let people simply copy+paste or even download a mod .ini quickly and easily for distribution and mod creation both. Move bindings/aliases to GamerSettings.ini (disabling any sort of "cheating" functions that aren't already disabled for MP), to still allow things like separate use/sprint/roll function and FOV change(s) without forfeiting credits/xp/ops, and everything should be taken care of regarding possible cheating via modding, players left to their own devices, game life extended with no cost to Bioware/EA.

I've never gotten a reply beyond essentially "I dunno, it could happen in the future" or silence from any of the devs I inquired to about the possibility, so it remains a pipe dream. :(

BW has no anti-cheat system in effect other than reports people have made or the absolute obvious ones. As long as you aren't dumb about it and drag a bunch of randoms in and tell them how awesome you are. You should be fine

Validation/balance overrides prevents a lot of great modding possibilities, but I suppose I already had my fill of basic "boss modes" and "hold-the-line"/king of the hill type objective wave modding and rudimentary ME1-style "Platinum" difficulty in the demo/up until the ban threats started. So re-igniting the spark/challenge in my ME3 multiplayer relationship isn't as huge of a priority for me as for most others, I'd imagine. Plus I have more time to spend on the forums than actually playing anyway (and I sadly like modding more than playing. see also: every Bethesda game ever), so I'm not fully burnt out yet. :P

Official support (or even just official agreement to turn a blind eye, or official word more than a vague "we're mostly targetting unfair advantage mods") would vastly improve the modding community and get a lot more people involved and interested, regardless.

Like I stated earlier, we are quickly encroaching into the area of implied consent.

Thought for sure I was banned this morning when I needed to purchase/redeem an online pass for thousands of dollars. =P

+ sounds EPIC and instead of making completely new enemies ( collectros/mercs/whateverthefpeopelwant)
Just make mods like this one availible to be used for everyone, without getting banned/hacked.

There is a way i think Bioware could have it's cake and eat it too, and therefore gives us players some cake.

Make you and your crew official volunteer community modders. Your group would be given exclusive permission to create mods, and review community mods for initial approval. any mods that pass your groups muster would then go to a bioware dev for certification. Once a particular mod was certified, it's co.bin file agriculture would become legal.

Sure it would be some work, but you guys are putting in the work now anyways.

Just an idea.

Got into a game like this, loaded and had zombies in my face. Not just 3 oh no, more like 20. Been a while since I screamed as I was overrun in a game but it happened. Had NO idea wtf was going on but was sure was a hoot.

Their should be a simple mod system to play custom games with no exp and no credit. Like mods for people to do jsut for fun stuff with totally IMBA tricked out weapons and crazy boss fights.
