My suggestion/pipe dream has always been a "~/Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect 3/BIOGame/Mods/Custom.ini" which overrides anything from C.bin and the DLCs' .bins. This functionality already exists for GamerSettings.ini (stores overrides for a few things like graphics/engine settings), so it presumably wouldn't be too much work to adapt to modding. Then just forcibly lock you into 0 credits, 0 xp, and not counting toward weekend events if C.bin has been modified or Custom.ini is loaded/exists.Phydeaux314 wrote...
(That would be cool, actually - if they changed the ToS to allow mods, but to do a hash check on the coalesced file. If it differed, you wouldn't be eligible for rewards, but you could still have fun with other people.)

Then just include a basic loader to enable/disable mod(s) on startup if the .ini file exists, and/or select from any .ini file in the directory. People allowed to make mods per ToS (via the .ini only), and would let people simply copy+paste or even download a mod .ini quickly and easily for distribution and mod creation both. Move bindings/aliases to GamerSettings.ini (disabling any sort of "cheating" functions that aren't already disabled for MP), to still allow things like separate use/sprint/roll function and FOV change(s) without forfeiting credits/xp/ops, and everything should be taken care of regarding possible cheating via modding, players left to their own devices, game life extended with no cost to Bioware/EA.
I've never gotten a reply beyond essentially "I dunno, it could happen in the future" or silence from any of the devs I inquired to about the possibility, so it remains a pipe dream.

Like I stated earlier, we are quickly encroaching into the area of implied consent.
