Participating in Operation Exorcist makes me realize how broken Phantoms are

only thing that really bothers me about phantoms is on gold, their over elaborate attack animation they spam at you if they see you getting up after using a medigel instead of aggro another player that is firing on them.
while u are invulnerable to damage for a few moments after getting up, you can still be staggered, which the phantom's sword flurry animation does.

most of the time, I am never in this situation. however there are those occasions when things just dont go so well with your pug group

other then that, phantoms are not that big a deal. as others have said having a melee batarian soldier, vanguard that is careful, adepts etc make short work of then
Personally, I find that using a justicar's reave works well on them since after their barrier is down (geth smg eats them fast), they fall back and hide while the reave eats away at their already low hp reserve.

Huh, I don't have that much of a problem with them. I play geth engineer and I just throw my flamethrowing turret (named Troll ^^) at them, it keeps them busy while I shoot and chain-overload them. Works perfectly. The only problem I have with them is when they manage to sneak up behind me, but with huntermode that rarely happens.

I also play a geth infiltrator armed with the claymore....that's accually a little to easy even on gold.

Any class with Overload > Phantoms.
Falcon >>> Phantoms.
Falcon&Overload >>>[...]>>> Phantoms.

Batarian Soldier >>> Phantoms.

Vanguard with Charge+shotgun >>> Phantoms.

Stasis >>> Phantoms, if she bugs out, fire a missile near the first person she kills.

They are annoying, but you have so many counters... Cerberus would be really weak without them.

One of my favorite things out of this weekend was hunting Phantoms in Wave 11. You dispatch the first batch of four, then the next, then the next.....must have cleared at 24 in one of them, we were on roll.

Every class can do it.

They can be challenging if you fall asleep at the wheel, but in general, they're just a slightly challenging but easily beaten enemy.

The problem with Phantoms is that they are small so people just try to take them on their own, if all the team concentrates on it, just like with any other boss, they don't have a chance.

Just because a player isnt good enough to take on a phantom, they say the game is "broken".

Play more, get better, and stop moaning!

I even did a (uninted) gold solo on condor earlier

Only thing that took me down had been phantoms at long range that decided to snipe me as the swarm they had been (and a centurion with grenade inbetween) so if i die 4 of 5 times to phantom sniper, something is wrong

They did the nemesis job

If you died to phantom sniper, youre not good enough to avoid it.

Thats a fact.

Its not broken.

Get over it.

I don't think any enemy is all that threatening if the entire team attacks one.



Problem is, when there is 4 of them and some centurions., and an Atlas and...

There was one game where me (kroguard) and a salarian infil were absolutely dominating whole packs of phantoms. he would energy drain them, knocking out their barriers and a single biotic charge would finish them off. if their barriers werent down then the charge would stagger then and id follow up with a heavy melee or shotgun to the face. and some black widow shots from my mate helped too. together we took down about 5 phantoms that jumped out one after another on the landing pad on Firebase (dagger?)

It does, its attached to the phantom... they only use it to close in on you and reduce shields...

Its a shame they don't have two of them...
and we don't have them as weapons :ph34r:

Yes, Phantoms are designed to be hard.
No, games are not always 100% logical.
Yes, Phantoms can kill you. They're designed to be able to.
No, removing them / nerfing them would not be a good idea. Cerberus is easy as is it already, Phantoms are then only thing "not so easy".

Deal with it.

They are boses after all , right? And every day players find new ways to deal with them..
For example GPS doing devastate amount of dmg to their barriers and stagger them even without charge. And when barrier is down they almost always try to escape. Just don,t let them to do that.
Shot at them, burn, freeze, shock,melee or even spit at them if you want, no mater just don,t let them escape and restore barrier. In that case all cat-mouse game start again.

Graal is great when the Phantom is standing still. But when she's flipping around and an assault trooper is shooting at you from the only nearby cover, it becomes less of a sure thing. I got instakilled twice trying to line up shots last night--in the same game, no less--which is just a really embarassing way to go out. I am so ready for an end to Phantomfest 2012.

The only time they're dangerous is when they go unnoticed.

Plenty of classes can also go toe-toe with them quite easily.
My turian soldier build eats phantoms for breakfast.

Why would those folks would even bother playing Cerberus? You get your pack for extraction from any map or faction, and no one doubts that the community goal will bet met.

All I'm saying is that the usual number of Phantoms is plenty. Although it would be pretty funny/horrifying if they reduced the number of Phantoms this week and doubled down on Combat Engineers.

Since this event i basically start handling Phantoms well..
I kinda like them now cause they are so easy to kill.
With a Asari vanguard i just stasis bubble them and they die 2-3 shots, with Salarian Infiltrator it's really easy, Soldier just spam concshot.. well.. tbh it's not that hard..
