But yeah, given everything that's been going on it's almost certainly intentional.

I still have a little bit of hope that it really is a genuine mistake, even though that hope is immediately countered by their ridiculous stubbornness in acknowledging it.
Considering that it's only about fixing a few values in a single file, it's hard to think of it as a mistake.

Not true unfortunately, there are plenty of bugs in the game that still haven't been fixed, including a literal gamebreaker one (Shepard getting stuck on the Normandy cockpit). That isn't an excuse though and I agree with you on your other points.

Hands up, who actually thinks its a bug?
Nope. From the very beginning, I held out hope this was an honest mistake. But not anymore - and here's why:
1. Too much time has passed with no OFFICIAL acknowledgement from the folks who count - that is, the people who are directly responsible for this issue. The silence (and numerous thread lockdowns) speaks volumes.
2. I could understand a small amount missing, but 400 EMS (if not more to accommodate missed missions or DLC - or the fact PS3 players can't play ME1)?
3. This is an easy fix. (Thank you, Alan C9, for taking the time to explain the technicalities of this issue.)
4. The 50% GR modifier has no other purpose than to "encourage" folks to engage in MP. Had there been enough war assets in SP mode, MP could have helped people gain what is needed more quickly (or folks would have the option of skipping certain side missions and MP would make up the difference). But without enough in-game war assets, MP becomes the "encouraged" method of reaching one's goal.
This was intentional, no matter what Bioware claims to the contrary. The evidence is overwhelming.

I played a second run through with an Adept just to make sure I continued my romance with Miranda and has enough points to have the "gasping breath" at the end included.
I wanted my Shepard alive and be consistent with killing the Reapers for good.

I think it was someone on this board who said that the last two words of the Mass Effect trilogy are Downloadable Content.

yup. "downloadable content".

From Ashes added 100 assets. Total. That's 50 EMS. To make the breath scene something that was actually feasible to attain with single-player alone, they'd need at least 1,000 EMS.
That's either a lot of DLC, or a DLC with a huge number of assets (a full quarter of the total assets available in the entire game), neither of which seem very likely.

Or it's a lot of one mission DLC that only lasts around a couple hours.

The problem with that belief is that the DLC would have needed to add a ton of assets to even make the sequence reasonably achievable.

A. This is an intentional bug to force you play MP and in theory spend more money on the game
or
B. They planned to give us the war assets in a DLC. Whether or not they planned on charging us for this....they sold us an incomplete SP game.
Both thoughts are pretty disturbing and don't bode well for Bioware.

Haven't they fixed that bug yet either? After getting stuck a couple of times I started doing a quick save before going and talking to Joker and EDI. Saved me a lot of replays.

Its a bit reminiscent of the hover bug that happened in a number of places in ME2.

Actually at least for PC the game is now more broken than when it launched as it no longer even launches on PC without mucking around in task manager and crossing your fingers.
\\somuchhate.
Suggests why they were pushing origin though - prevents getting refunds for a broken product.

So if its not lying, what is it Bioware? Been a month since you locked down the 73 page mega thread cause apparently we should all have been waiting on Mike Gambles twitter feed with bated breath for him to reply to a query regarding EMS. It took your fans about 3 days to investigate and prove the lie of EMS, doesn't exactly inspire confidence that its taking the games creators months?
Ah I see the Faqs still telling porky pies
Goddamit still bitter

I have no understading of the lack of input from Bioware regarding this issue - or should I say the complete disregard of this issue.
In the meantime though they keep dishing out new MP DLC - shows you where their loyalty lies. I know they will say that it is a different team - but I just don't think that's a reasonable excuse anymore.
This issue has been raised for weeks well months now and still it has not been officially recognised or acknowledged. How hard would that be?!
I am afraid that this is making it feel like it was definetly a ploy to get us to play MP - regardless of whether we want to or not. And that makes this a game breaker for me and very worrying for the future of SP games.

My primary concern is this: that the breath ending is more than just a bonus deal for MP--that it will materially affect the EC content.
If it does, then official, legal action more serious than a complaint to the BBB may be warranted. I'll withhold my judgment until after I see the EC.

Maybe it's just someone's dopey idea of an Easter Egg for playing MP?
