Hello. I'm having problems with the Poisoning from Marek and Lothander. For my game, Lothander IS in the Blade and Stars and I want to help him by finding the geas but I can't find the Lady's Hall anywhere. Also, Marek isn't in the Blushing Mermaid Inn (in the upstairs). If someone replies to this, would you please tell me where the Lady's Hall is by saying whether it's in the Southeast central, West, Southwest central, East, Northeast central, Northwest central, Northeast, or Northwest? Also, there's a house which may be the Lady's Hall, but I'm not sure in the central part of the city (with the gate that allows passage between the north and south) past the tents or marketplace. To the east of the map (the third house to the south) which gives me an error message and kicks me out of the game. After this happened, I had problems starting up my computer and shutting it down once, but it's been fixed. Since then, I've avoided the house. I'm almost certain that there is a sign over the Lady's Hall, and I've looked everywhere for her house, but I have'nt found it again. (I was searching the city and clicked on the sign passing it by, but I did not enter the house). I have only about 2-4 days left before I die from the poison, so I'd appreciate a reply sometime soon and I thank you all.
Poisoning Bug by Marek.

The Lady's house is in W baldurs, same map as Hall of Wonders. As for Marek he won't arrive until you reach that part of the quest.
p.s. Read a walkthrough for story answers as this forum is for tech issues.

Thank you for your reply. I'm having a problem with Lothander now and he won't talk to me. I had this problem with Jhasso as well, but eventually he talked to me. Any advice?

What version of the game do you have. GOG comes pre-patched, 5 disk + 1 expansion doesn't nor does the 4-in-1 boxed set.

I have the 4 in 1 box. Baldurs Gate 1, BGTotSC, Baldurs Gate 2 SoA, and BG ToB. I just encountered a problem today with Ulcaster. After killing the Vampiric Wolf and all the dread wolves and retrieving the Fire wand, I was leaving to heal up and sell freeing up some inventory space and I got an error message or the game freezes and I have to kick myself out. Any advice?

You need the Tales patch for BG1 then, and the ToB patch for BG2. Don't take directx patches or BG1/SOA patches as Tales/ToB are installed.
You may still have issues with your current game if you've done a lot of quests, as one issue (global variable bug) means any started after the variable limit is reached is affected and the patch can't retrospectively apply the correct values for the savegame.

Thanks for your reply. Ignore my recent post about the patches please, I don't know how to erase a post after it's been created. I started on the new post just about when you replied to my first post.

Don't worry about it, but for future reference when you have a duplicate or unneeded post just go in and edit it (you can't actually delete it). Replace the original text with something like "duplicate post" or "answered elsewhere" so that others don't respond unnecessarily.

By the way, I DL'ed the patches, or the TotSC more precisely and I ran into the same problem in Ulcaster anyway. If I start my game over, will my game work then? And The ToB patch did'nt work. I got a message saying the computer couldn't find the file while trying to DL the patch (BG2 ToB, the TotSC patch worked apparently). I might just play BG 2 now, but I not without the patch. What should I do now?

Did you install to the default Program Files location? If so then install to a different location like c:/games/BG (Vista and Windows 7 play silly games with where files are saved if you use the default location). Your saved game should still work OK with a fresh installation.

I saved the Bg 2 ToB patch. It went directly to the desktop. I don't know where to put it from there or how to do that. I ran the TotSC patch but I'll save that to the desktop as well after this post. Could someone direct me on how to place the patches from the desktop to where they have to go? I'd appreciate that. Thank you for now.

It doesn't matter where you keep the patches - you just need to run the files (double-click on them). As part of the installation process you will be asked to confirm the directory that your game is in.

Ok. Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I think I got TotSC patch tp work (install correctly) but it's not in my Black Isle folder where I can find BG 1 and 2 which is where I start the game from. I'm not sure where it went or how or where to find it. (If I have to). ToB patch is a different story. I double clicked the icon and it was going smoothly but I got the same error as before (from the patch website) : The system cannot find the file specified. Sorry but I need some more advice.

Ok sounds like perhaps missed the bit about the default Program Files location.
If you have windows Vista or 7 & your game is installed to C:\\Program Files ? Then that is what's wrong.
To fix it you need to make a backup of your save games (copy /paste the files to a safe location like C:\\backup saves) then uninstall your games and reinstall them to a new place like C:\\Games\\BG1.

If your BG1 game folder contains a file called "readme_patch.txt" you should now be OK. The patched game starts in the same way as the unpatched game, no new icons or anything (worse, if you click view readme on the game launcher it shows the unpatched readme).
Looking in the game folder mine (UK) has
bgmain.exe with a date/time 28 April 1999 17.28.04
bgmain2.exe with a date/time 9 June 1999 13.35.46
Did you do a full install of BG2? Did you install SOA then install TOB or just SOA? Sorry for silly questions but this is the sort of thing I'd expect a message like that to indicate. If you've not started maybe uninstall BG2 and re-install to somewhere like C;\\games if you accepted the default location previously - that causes problems on Windows Vista/7.
edit, I give up....ussnorway is typing MUCH quicker tonight!

well, I went to programs and looked under my Black isle folder where everything for Baldurs gate 1 and 2 is stored, this is where I start my game from, and I can't find a special file for saved games. I don't know where or how to paste from inside the game so could someone tell me where to find the saved games from BG? Sorry and thanks.

ussnorway has a nice image she (or he?) always posts to show the way, but I'll just pop in and give her/him a break with this nicely written description by Kevin Lynch last year in this subforum: "In the saves folder, there should be a button along the top of the window called Compatibility files (in the row with Organize, etc). If you click that button your saves should appear. You can then copy them out into the real folder again (since they are stored in the VirtualStore folder for the current user, not the place where the game saves the files)."

I have a screenshot (showing my art skills - can't even draw stick men!)
edit - this was to get to the stored baldur.ini file, do the same from the save folder or mpsave if multiplayer.
