Skill Build: The Man with a Golden Gun :
Lightning bruiser build with AoE nuke, true close quarter specialist.
6/6/3/5/6
1a) Ballistic Blades with Cone, Range and Explosive Blades.
-or-
1b) Ballistic Blades with Damage, Cooldown and Bleed&Damage.
2) Blade Armor with Melee, Recovery* and Cooldown.
3) 3 Points in Inferno Grenade.
4) Batarian Enforcer with Power&Weight and Power**.
5) Fitness with Melee***, Shield Recovery and Shield&Health.
1a) Ballistic Blades specced this way offers a medium ranged AoE that is guaranteed to at inflict decent damages even at max range, it is safe and reliable.
1b) Ballistic Blades specced this way grants you a very potent close quarter nuke able to instantly kill lesser enemies at point blank, think of it as a high risk&reward version.
(*) The amount of melee damages reflected by Blade Armor is capped and you don't really want to take hits from bosses on higher difficulties, the shield recovery perk stacks with Fitness, providing high sustain.
(**) Power scales extremely well with Ballistic Blades and Inferno Grenades, I do not recommend skipping it for weapon damage but it remains viable.
(***) Batarians have very high base health&shield, if you intend to melee, this perk is worth the trade.

Ballistic Blade and cover:
BB are known to be very buggy when used from cover, it may fail to hit enemies in range because of trajectory angle issues.
Weapons:
If you want to play Bruiser, you want to keep your weight bonus as high as possible, the Grenadier doesn't care though, so feel free to use whatever you want on him.
Here are my personal favourite weapons for the Bruiser:
Mattock/Lancer/CSMG/Falcon/Scorpion/Talon/Wraith/Eviscerator.
Each of these weapons possess a remarkable balance between weight&damage output. I equip the ARs with Extended Barrel & Piercing Mod except for the Falcon, which gets an Extended Mag instead of the Piercing Mod. I play The Wraith&Eviscerator with a Bayonet&Extended Barrel against Geth&Cerberus but swap the Bayonet for a Smart Choke against Reapers&Collectors because I will melee a lot less.
The CSMG always comes with Extended Mag&Piercing Mod unless I'm using Arpen Ammunition, then It gets a Heatsink instead.
The Scorpion&Talon are used with a Heavy Barrel & Extended Magazine.
Equipment:
Weapon Rail
Cyclonic Modulator
Arpen Ammo.
Berzerker or Shock Trooper Pack for a Bruiser.
Warfighter, Shock Trooper or Grenade Capacity for a Grenadier.
Role and Skill uses:
Disruption, crowd control and off-tanking.
Ballistic Blades/Inferno Grenades are the bane of troopers, centurions and marauders, you will be easily wiping the floor with group of them if you know what you are doing. Dash in, BB, headshot as many mooks as your weapon allows before reapplying BB, if you run out of ammo/want to finish the last guy, indulge yourself in some Falcon punching goodness.
Keep your grenades for clusters you cannot engage (pyros/hunters) and armored foes.
When to use the heavy melee:
The Batarian heavy melee does tons of damages but it is better to smash people head with your basic chain melee attacks when you are fighting against a group of lesser enemies because the damage reduction you receive when Falcon Punching is not enough to be always counted on: If a nemesis decides to snipe you or a pyro shows up behind you, you are toasted
Each normal melee attack does a very respectable damages with 105% bonus, with area of effect ! Do not underestimate them.
Heavy melee should rather be used against weakened phantoms going for normal attacks (nullifying their damage output and guaranting an insta-kill.) or lone centurions/marauders/rocket troopers initiated with Ballistic Blade.
Use them on Banshee/Atlas/Prime/Praetorians only from behind and when you can estimate their health pool to be down around 2 bars of armor left by the time you finish charging up, it can take a while to get a hang of the timing but blowing up an atlas with your fist is just boss.
Which targets should a Brotarian prioritize ?
Everything.
You are a Batarian, you have four eyes, they are all inferior. My own personal favourite are centurions and Collector Captains though, yeah, come at me bro.
Phantoms modus operandi:
1a) Bait her, with BA toggled on, a Phantom will need three shots to strip your shield, phantoms usually shoot in burst of 3 shots, as long as you manage to dodge one, your shield should be able to take the punishment.
1b) Bait her, If she does manage to strip your shield with her palmgun, make sure to get out of her line of sight just long enough for you to recover shield (Blade armor shield perk is your friend.), dont go for a phantom in the open for this reason, make sure you have an obstacle nearby.
Once she gets in range, go medieval:
2) BB, weapon blast.
3a) she has been staggered: Follow with another BB or a grenade, proceed to engage in melee while doing so. proceed to 4a)
3b) she has not been staggered and...
_ She removed your shield with her trollhand = back off, go back to 1b)
_ She entered talk-to-the-hand shield mode / kept flippin' around = proceed to 4a)
4a) You took out or nearly took out her barrier and have reached melee range, with two DoTs burning through her remaining health, the phantom goes into "stealth/Ninja flipping/Shield mode" in front of you: FALCON PUNCH. Proceed to 5)
4b) You took out her barrier or nearly took out her barrier and reached melee range, then phantom is now trying to attack you but you have full shield/health: SHOW ME A MOVE. Proceed to 5)
4c) You took out her or nearly took out her barrier and reached melee range, then phantom is now trying to attack you but you are out of shield (another enemy shot you or whatever): throw a quick BB to stagger her or trigger her dodge reflex then finish her with normal attacks. Proceed to 5)
4d) She insta-kills you. From my experience it mostly happens when you fail to kill her after her full combo. But the game is quite random at times... Deal with it better next time  !
5) Put quadglasses.
How can my Brotarian teammate help me when things get rough ?
Unlike you, he doesn't die when a swarmer sneezes in your general direction and when you scream phantom/hunter in your mic, a Brotarian smiles !
Krogans may have quads, but Batarian have four eyes and a Falcon Punch.
How can I help my Brotarian teammate ?
Stop struggling !
When should I play my Brotarian ?
Small/narrow maps (white, glacier, dagger, ghost, reactor...), murdertrain/mobile team setup.
