I have lot of ladies in my friend list, actually ladies are more common than N7 weapons.
Question to ladies.
When you talk on the mic in a random lobby guys really make sexist jokes?
From my experience on PS3... not even once. And I almost always use my mic and, while not a chatterbox, I do greet people when they enter the room, call out big enemies when I see them in-game, thank people for reviving me, etc. The absolute worst thing ever said to me was someone asking if I was a girl or a young boy. Literally, that was the worst, and it wasn't even a bad thing at all. And once I confirmed I was a woman, they basically just thought it was cool and said they wished more women were gamers.
My overall experience is... I have been treated like just "one of the guys". Every now and then someone will acknowledge surprise that I am female, but afterwards everyone was either silent or cordial. Or has joined in with my jokes. And if the room seems nervously silent while playing, I will break the ice by being the first one to curse like a sailor, so nobody has to feel like they must be "proper gentlemen" in front of "the lady". You ain't gonna break me, boys, and I don't have virgin ears.
And honestly, that's how I prefer it. I don't want to be on a pedestal or seen as some rare unicorn. Yes, I am a woman (and I do enjoy the occasional shopping trip)... but I have always been a tomboy/one of the guys since I was single digits in age. I drink whiskey and beer, I get stupidly worked up watching college football, I love fishing, I enjoy going bowling, I love to shoot pool in some smokey hole-in-the-wall bar. I play video games... sometimes by myself, sometimes with my husband. That's just who I am. And everyone has been totally cool with that, both in real life and just online.
So, either I have been very fortunate... or PS3 ME3 has a much more mature community than XBox... or this whole men-against-women-gamers thing is getting blown out of proportion.
