The ones when he got religious, my Shepard is not religious he even straight up said so to Ashley in ME1 so what the hell does he keep talkign about heaven and ****?   Also when he went all soldier bros with Vega.  Like when you do the paragon interupt in the bar and do some weird little handshake salute whatever the hell it was and say some little soldier ditty.  Vega was like "didn't think you knew that one" and I just was like "wut the hell did I even just say?"

Shepard apologizing to that stupid Asari councilor. (Should've torn her a new one is what he should've did). Pretty much EVERYTHING Shep says to Liara. (Especially the way he says her name as if she was his LI on Mars. Gag me with a spoon).

We fight or we die. No rly?

There's enough stupid sh** Shep says in ME3 to fill a novel. At least in ME1 and ME2 Shep's stupidity could either be completely averted or we had enough chances to make him sound reasonably intelligent it didn't get so bad. Not in ME3!

That for me as well. I just had to roll my eyes at my Shepard being forced to believe such things in Mass Effect 3 when he previously did not.

Bioware has forgotten their promise to make Shepard an avatar of the player. To be honest, I'm surprised they didn't cut out the ability to use custom faces to make Shepard "more recognizable for newcommers" or something. :?

It's not just autodialogue that bothered me; it was also the removal of the neutral option. I found that particularly intolerable in any of the geth-related dialogue, as I was stuck choosing between "the geth are totally innocent and can't be held responsible for any of the countless people they've slaughtered in the past" or "they're just mindless killbots that all need to die", both viewpoints which I personally disagree with and which make Shep look like an idiot. Where was the middle ground, like we had (and which I always used) when we discussed the modified genophage with Mordin?

All Cerberus related auto-dialogue with the most beautiful examples being the Gavin Archer ones if you kept David in the program and the Sanctuary ones.

To be fair even my renedouche was pretty disgusted with Archer in ME2. I don't think there was a single option that had Shep not disgusted. Shep might've agreed it was for the greater good but he always looks at Archer like he's scum.

EVERYTHING Shep says to the Catalyst. EVERYTHING. From the weak willed simpering to the utterly wallbangerish way he accepts it. Just. NO. NO NO NO.

Oh, how I hated that.

You can hate batarians, you can hate geth, you can hate quarians, you can hate krogan, you can even hate hanar...  but asari? Nooo, apparently everyone loves asari, and if someone makes fun of them, it's anger time.

If you're going to allow us to be racist, Bioware, go all the way. None of this "only some species" nonsense.

In response to OP, there were many, many immersion-breaking moments.

But for me, the most irritating scenes are those where Shepard acts our of character with the Shepard I created. I grew up in the eighties and nineties... my heroes were Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Seagal, etc. So I sort of projected this type of badass action hero nature into my Shepard.

It makes me sick in my stomach when I see Shep care so much, and look like a beaten down puppy after the VS gets beat up at the end of the Mars mission. The Shepard I envisioned would have NEVER ever acted like this. Seriously he looked like a lost puppy... with these eyes,.. W.T.F?

The immersion-breaking came from the railroading of the character, not so much the automated dialogue. I would not care that much about automated dialogue if it fit my Shepard. But as soon as he starts acting like Bioware wants him to, and not like the personality I built for him, it totally kills the game for me. Really, really annoying.

Fully agreed.

The Shepard I played in ME1 and ME2 would've found that remark hilarious. Not BW's Shep who apparently ate mine.

They had to remove our shep and replace him/her with a shep that was experiencing inner turmoil over all that was going on.

I think that was the most immersion break aspect of the whole game. Them trying to force feelings down our throat with things like that and the stupid little kid.

<_<

THIS! This was the most jarring auto-dialogue for me as I would've been joking right with him, not snapping at his ass!

I couldn't use my original Shepard face because of the new CC and whatever reasoning behind cutting out hairstyles or tweaking them to look worse.  Was hard to do a playthrough for me, plus that auto-dialogue...

Thing is by agreeing to let David in the program he becomes Gavin's enabler and has no moral high ground to stand on. I wouldn't be surprised if Shepard's dialogue is largely the same with Paragon.

Never said Shep wasn't a hypocrite.

"I don't like looters!"

Reminds me of how when you first meet Zaeed in ME2 you see him beating the **** out of a Batarian and during Normandy dialogue talks about an effective method to torture Krogan but if you bring him to Jack's recruitment mission he speaks against torture.

To be honest, there was too many throughout ME3 to really recall.

But there was a lot at the start of the game from Earth / Mars and the Citadel.

There was also a number of places where I / My Shep wouldn't have agreed with what was being said that I was forced to listen too. E.g, the Overheating vs Ammo discussion between Shepard and Conrad.

Immersion-breaking?? When did the immersion start? Seriously, as soon as the intro started and Shepard was talking to Vega (who?) then nonsense at the council then 1000 explosions, there was no immersion for me besides talking to Garrus/Tali/Legion... and that was only because of the previous games. Anything ME3-proper was like a (bad) movie.

There are really too many to just narrow it down to one to be honest. :/ you are correct though in that we do not have control over Shepard in me3 like previous games. He's more defined, canon now.

Shepard's first meeting with the Council. I was none too pleased about the lack of being able to pull "Ah yes, Reapers" on them.
