I'm a dedicated Tali fan, and I completely agree with you. In ME1, we could be friendly, professional, or dismissive/rude/abusive to anyone on the team. We should have retained that freedom to shape our characters. This is the exact reason Liara gets so much scorn these days - people wouldn't complain as much about the plot armor if they weren't forced to be borderline romantic with her. Friendly/supportive/romantic should all be there, but it should be a choice. That's what gives it meaning.Demoiselle wrote...

I did not care about her getting a home. I really didn't.
And the sad thing is that if my Shep didn't AUTOMATICLLY spend the Rannoch Arch comforting, praising and joking with her I probably would have cared. She had realistic and likeable charachter development but I wanted the freakin OPTION to not be best friends.

You know when, you know where.
Words cannot describe how terrible that ending was.

I felt the same way about having Liara forced down my throat at every turn.
I think this underlying point here can be said for all things ME3. And it's why this game is severely lacking. They took away our choice and our Shep to add theirs.

This. Nothing breaks immersion like playing the same conversation four times in hopes that one option won't lead to a flirt, only to reload yet again and give up (not talk to him at all) because the option isn't there.MattFini wrote...

Also, the fact I couldn't have any conversations with Ash or any of my other crewmates beyond Zaaed-esque comments. Frustrates the hell out of me. I miss ME1's level of control. I understand the need to establish Shepard as a character through the series, but alot of the autodialogue pisses me off by going against what my Shepard was previously established as.
Oh yeah, and I couldn't agree with Joker, Paragon and Renegade options were essentially telling him the same thing. I wanted to agree with him!
The child dying at the start. My Shepard's a paragade who saw Elysium, he's seen plenty of corpses particularly that of children. At this point in time he's desensitized to it all, yet this one child has such a 'profound' effect on him? BS. BW gimme back my Shepard. He wouldn't have cringed like BWs Shepard. Mine would look somber for a minute then get to work. He's seen it all, he doesn't care anymore. Callus as it sounds, so what if a child dies? He's seen dozens of them over his carrier. It's a cruel galaxy, and unfair, often violent things happen on a daily basis - would even go as far to say an hourly basis.

this. also i'd say that any renegade would lose immersion because of some of the auto-dialogue

Mostly...
The reaction after Thessia irritated me. Shepard gets his space underroos in a bunch and starts to get angsty for no reason other than the writters thinking there needs to be drama at this moment. He doesn't seem geniunely distraught or has reached his limit as much as he seems butthurt that he didn't win.
Then Kai Leng trolls him in a email.
If I wanted that kind of drama I'd post...well...here.

But...Shepard is having NIGHTMARES about a kid! A kid! He's feeling all touchy-feely now, all uber-sensitive and Dr Phil. He's just feeling very emotional right now, that's all.

My Shepard setup a bot and spammed Kai Leng's email box right back with LOADS of penis enlargement emails and Nigerian money spam. Leng never knew what hit him.

Shepard's reaction after Thessia. I facepalmed so hard during all that dialogue that my hand almost went through my skull.
So very true...
The scene with Joker and Garrus are the only two expectations... They at least
tried to show the emotional significance of the events to Shepard...
I have a little bit of head cannon for how I would have like
things to be different after that battle:
