Yes, so long as it played like Borderlands or SW Republic Commando.
It would also need to focus on balanced gameplay, weapons, and an above average story.

Only under one condition. The enemies are all the BioWare story developers and cheaply photoshopped stock images.

Would you enjoy a Mass Effect game that plays like Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines?
I would.
Every IP deserves a VTMB-like game.

LOL Excellent story telling doesn't mean anything if the ending is the equivalent of the asari consort ripping a nasty fart when you're making out.

It could be fun, in the same way CoD4 was fun, but it most certainly would not feel like Mass Effect.

I think they've shown us they can't do both on their budgets with ME3. In my mind excellent storytelling it dramaticc and dialogue driven like in films. ME1 & 2 did this fantasticly, ME3.... not so much, especially when most of the dialogue was auto. To paraphrase GameInformer to a fan letter when ME2 came out, if I wanted to play a FPS I'd have bought Halo.

Only one primary reason for bioware to shift from RPGs, which they historically have done, to FPS, and that is money.
FPS's are possibly the most successful genre of game around right now, even if that's only consolidated to a couple of IP's a best. If you noticed with the likes of Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, even the Old Republic, ever since the success of WoW company after company and leaping onto the MMO band-wagon in the aim of replicating WoW's success.
Put two and two together you get an unholy hybrid of an MMOFPS. This is the route Blizzard is going down with Titan, and I wouldn't be surprised if bioware attempted something similar.
Would I play an MMOFPS in a mass effect universe? Nope, I'm done with MMOs now.

Doesn't have to be excellent storytelling. It needs to be good. ME is the Eragon of Sci-fi, its remarkable people still think that the plot skeleton ME 3 uses is completely ignored in that it mimics ME 1 more then ME 2 did.

No. I don't play FPS's for the sheer fact that they're not very interesting.
Mass Effect was intended to be a 3rd person RPG. It should stick to it's roots.
It should probably get a bit closer to its roots to be honest.

The world has more than enough FPS in my opinion. And will have all too many generic ones come the end of this year too. I have nothing against a first person perspective as games like Bioshock and Deus Ex prove you can still do quite a lot with it. In fact the upcoming Dishonoured looks very interesting indeed.
However one can only imagine the rage if such a thing happened to Mass Effect. People are already whining about it being catered to the COD crowd. I don't believe that but make it a FPS and well...even I wouldn't argue the point.

Theres some pretty interesting FPSs. Half Life, BioShock, FEAR, etc...
But yeah, I would much rather they stick with 3rd person.

I would, IF it had a compelling story and memorable characters. You know, bioware's trademark. They don't have to do rpgs forever, gosh. but I'd miss the compelling story if they ever chose to abandon it.
