Well if its going to be an actual ME game just going from 3rd person to 1st person then I don't see an issue.  Now if its just going to be the typical 6 hour, action packed CoD style campaign just with ME weapons then ehhhh thats not that excited.  Although I do like the TPS/cover based game play more, FPS game play would still be fun as long as the game retained what makes ME itself.

Also I agree with the above comment on SW Republic Commando, my favorite squad based fps ever.

if by FPS you mean simply a perspective shift, then yes. It would be nice to get up close and personal, especially with melee, the guns of ME3 (awesome designs) etc.

Or do you mean modern-FPS, like BF3 and CoD which are just mindless schlock...

A squad based fps like Star Wars republic commando could be pretty cool. As long as it had a good story, set during the first contact war or something.

I am still highly dissapointed that of all the Clone Wars era crap LA milks, they couldn't bring themselves to make a sequel.

Oh wait, doesn't have Jedi.  Nevermind, can't sell it.  <_<

No, If i want a FPS i play Cod o Battlefield.

So even if it had excellent story telling you still wouldn't like it?

I think they've shown us they can't do both on their budgets with ME3. In my mind excellent storytelling it dramaticc and dialogue driven like in films. ME1 & 2 did this fantasticly, ME3.... not so much, especially when most of the dialogue was auto. To paraphrase GameInformer to a fan letter when ME2 came out, if I wanted to play a FPS I'd have bought Halo.

Doesn't have to be excellent storytelling.  It needs to be good.  ME is the Eragon of Sci-fi, its remarkable people still think that the plot skeleton ME 3 uses is completely ignored in that it mimics ME 1 more then ME 2 did.

Yes, it does.

And plot skeleton? I'd like to know two things there.

One, explain the term and then how it applies to ME1-ME3.

Two, explain why that's a good or bad thing.

Thoughts on this anyone? It seems like alot of game these days have a 3rd person cover based fighting system would you like to see a ME game with a first person perspective?

Before ME 3's ending?  Oh yeah!

Play as a human soldier in the first contact war, blowing away turians.  With a tight linear storyline by Bioware.  Awesome.

After, once again I ask what is the point?

Every thing comes to the same pointless and bleak ending.

Why bother fighting at all if there is no hope, no chance for things to end well?

I don't think I'll EVER want to invest in the Mass Effect universe again knowing how it all comes to a close.

I am curious as why people think that CoD and Halo are the only FPS's in existence.

SO MUCH THIS.

If bioware made a ME FPS why does it have to be like CoD or Halo? I mean you could have your biotics tech abilities maybe even a squad (thats at least useful).

If they approached it intelligently, Maybe, with a giant question mark... ANd by giant: picture a question mark 80 feet high made of solid steel.

If they just made a halo, CoD, or battlefield knock-off with a mass effect glazing: No, I would not enjoy it, and I would harshly deride anyon e who did enjoy it for being a colossal moron.

Seriously -.-.  Although about a year ago there was this article that has some very circumstantial news that suggests a sequel.  We can hope right?

Because it is EA: and they won't make something that hasn't been demonstrated to produce money like a printing press.  And as we all know: too much complexity makes the masses' brains hurt.

Yeah, from the actual structure it is pretty basic and rather cliché, but they manage to get you highly engaged and invested. FPS cannot do that equally, otherwise it will end up being a mixture of RPG and shooter like it is now.

Not in a million years. Mass Effect without the conversation system and paragon/renegade is not Mass Effect.

There are a lot of big-budget FPS titles out there. An ME FPS could be good, but it doesn't really interest me, and I don't see it becoming serious competition for the franches FPS games that already dominate the market.

ME3 was shooter enough for me. Perspective wise I prefer this kind of thing to be third person anyway.

I can handle a first person perspective (Thief worked and I'm seriously looking forward to Dishonored), in some respects I find the whole 'looking through the eyes of the character' much more immersive, but whether I like a game or not is more down to genre and content..

If it is still broadly speaking an RPG, nearer to Skyrim than Rage then I could cope. If it is just a pure FPS or an FPS version of the ME3 gameplay (which I'm sorry but did not have enough rpg elements for me) then I wouldn't play it.

Then it's just Mass Effect, but in first person.

Pointless, in other words.

I would.

Every IP deserves a VTMB-like game.
