I understand exactly why it was cut and support it, though after the ending which allows you to outright destroy the Geth I find it odd that they cut it.

Though another reason on top of the other reasons you already mentioned of why it was cut is probably because the quest is basically redundant and the same thing as the Rannoch decision. Your basically being asked again whether or not you support the Geth. However if they are dead then you clearly dont so who cares if they get experimented on, if they're alive then that means you made peace and thus would not support such a thing.

EDIT:
It really is sad how many people think that BioWare cheaped them out of their money everytime they learn something didnt make it into the game. Not every cut is some intentional means to cheap you out of a complete game, every game has cut content. It's pretty obvious why this was cut and it has nothing to do with the budget or EA.

I can't see why this was cut, unless they plan to release it as DLC or because multiplayer took out even more development time than I thought.

Why was this cut? Xen was one of my least favorite characters ever, shes insane.

Well, what Xen is talking about the Quarians being enslaved by the Geth does not go unnoticed or unthought of by me. See the Geth "upgrades" will get the Quarians dependent on the Geth instead of on themselves during the recolonization if you made peace. When Legion first came on board I listened to Javiks story of the Metcon War, and came to the conclusion that any peace between the Quarians and Geth wouldn't last. This is what Xen is deathly afraid of. I can't say I blame her.

Yes, Xen is a tad insane, but then genius and insanity are closely associated.

Hmmmm... semi-VI suicide bombers against the reapers. Interesting. And getting into figure out exactly how the Citadel works? Hell yeah! I'm all for that. I was wanting the story to head in that direction a year ago. There they are on the Citadel for millenia and not once does anyone ever go trying to figure out how the thing works. They just leave it all up to the keepers. Xen is a genius.

My renegade Shepard would totally endorse this action.

Not sure if this has been noted but:

Admiral Xen's research teams salvaged advanced AI relays from the wreckage of the geth's dreadnought flagship.Xen used the valuable technology to write a custom VI that oversees the energy output of the Crucible's fusion reactors and adjusts itself automatically.

This is in fact in the current game, it's not connected to the quest that was cut.

"Are you sleeping with him, Tali? Did someone get her induction filter popped on Pilgrimage?"

Priceless. Great find OP, I wish this had made the final cut

kinda reminds me of Liara and her dad's convo:
"that's not true! Shepard listens to me!"
"and how many times have you popped his thermal clip?"

NAY, HERESY =][= Thank the Emperor this was cut! this would have been horrible. Xen is one of my favorie Admirals. And people throw the word insane around to freely these days. People calling Xen insane is a wonderful case of Fundamental Attribution Error.

True. This text relates to the Advanced AI Relays war asset, which you get by supporting Xen over Tali during a conversation they have in the war room after one of the Rannoch missions.

Thank god this was dropped. The attempts to villainize Xen via Tali were some of the most face-palm worthy of ME2.

If anything, we needed more chances to be in Xen's corner. There's quite a bit of basis to say that the Geth are simply complex machines, not living souls. The forced concession is rather annoying if you don't buy into it.

Nah I thought Xen was going to off the edge or something because she seemed rather unstable.

Xen's quest does add more credence to the "synthetics v. organics. Pick a side" elements of the endgame.

If your Shep thinks the geth are living souls, kill them all on Rannoch. Problem solved.

The issue with that is that, thanks to ME3 especially, the entire Geth-Quarian conflict was a one-sided affair. Throwing Xen on it just makes the Quarians further complicit, and even less onus on synthetics.

What ME3 really needed was a relevant return of the Heretics. We needed synthetics (that weren't Reapers) who were unapologetically uninterested in peace or coexistence with organics.

Dammit, I suspected that, but thanks for clearing it up. Will go remove it from the OP.

Fact: Reaper technology could control the geth. Fact: per your reports, the Citadel is Reaper technology. Ergo...
So far, all I've managed to do is shut down a few keepers and kill some rabble, but if I can unlock the Citadel's secrets...

Am I the only one who read this and thought "Xen could have saved us from the catalyst.... nice job breaking it hero".

No, you're not the only one. In fact, I believe that was the REAL reason this was cut - to further the rather flakey fake inevitability of activating the Crucible instead of saying "why use this Aperture-Science-We-Don't-Know-What-It-Does ™ when we have a perfectly good comp00ter virus that lets us use the Citadel against the Reapers anyhoos in addition to boiling Reaper brains in their hulls"?
