Found an explanation I made a long time ago. Forgive me if parts at the beginning make no sense. They were targeted towards someone whose question amounted to "What the HELL is wrong with you people for watching a show about cartoon ponies?":

Nothing is wrong with us at all. (Hell a university research project somewhere proved the pysch of a brony/pegasister was pretty much the same as any other person who doesn't watch MLP FiM) We and probably nearly a million others (guesstimate) wouldn't be watching the show without a good reason. That reason is that it's simply a great show good enough to capture the attention of adults and teens from both genders. Plus Hasbro, Studio B&DHX have been having great communication with the community along with the VA's. Also you probably won't find a more talented fanbase anywhere else on the net. We have fanfiction (Some of it as good as the best books) art, music vids, remixes, do original music covering many genres, fan games though most of these are in development (Seriously check these out) abridged series like Friendship is Witchcraft and a hell of a lot more.

Also we don't give a damn about what society says we can and can't watch. Hope that helps!
