Dont really get how banners/avatars of something I like is considered spam. But meh. As for the pony thread thing threads like this aren't made by anyone who posts in the MLP thread. No one there would even want to make another pointless thread like this one because it's stupid. Don't hold us all responsible for the OP's failings. None of us who regularly post in that thread would have made anything like this I assure you. Look at all the people with ME and DA avatars and banners. Tons more of those than there are FiM stuff. Cut with the "bronies are taking over/invading mentality. It's not actually happening and it does you no favours, making yourself all angry over it.
Looks like I vented again lol

More that people are sick of "bronies" having to spam their nonsense everywhere. No one *wants* to understand why grown men watch a show (and buy the products, toys, etcetera of said show) designed for young girls.
Finding that to be, at best, terribly immature, and at worst, disturbing and highly questionable, isn't "narrowminded".
Narrowminded is not accepting someone's sexual orientation. Being creeped out by grown men collecting toys and items that appeal to young girls... is not narrowminded. It's a healthy dose of caution.

Probably because people can actually get away with it unlike racism. Not trying to instigate wrong or right but my personal view is both are wrong.

I know I'm stereotyping, but that's the point. MLP was ALWAYS stereotyped as a "girl" thing. What boy, or *ahem* grown up man enjoyed combing his little pet pony? Probably not many. So for all of us who have never seen the new show and don't understand the rabid fanbase it's created, we have no grasp on why it's no longer a little girl's thing.

It is not.
If they were ringing at your door to selll you Fluttershy figures, THEN you could be "cautious" (although I would find it hilarious. Better than Jehovah's witnesses anyday). If they buy them themselves?
Not your business.
@ Ivandra: Guess it is because people like flaming. It is more fun than discussing.

True, but if someone is busy posting hatespeech against bronies they dont have the time to beat up colored people.
Improvement imo.

But responding to the threads and comments about ponies with negetive criticism is just as much off-topic spamming and pointless than the original posts in the first place.
Anyway, theres nothing wrong with liking something that your not in the primary demographic of, particuarly if said thing was designed to have multidemographic appeal in the first place.
And assuming that watching a TV show == buying childrens toys is a little narrowminded. Trust me when I say that even some people who enjoy the show find that a bit... much.

That is more about your attitude towards merchandise in general than about attitude towards MLP.
I find people who collect Star Trek action figures or plaster their walls with Shakira posters equally strange.

There is absolutely no difference in the psych between bronies and non-bronies. Hasbro and the creators of the show plus the VA's communicate with us (a hell of a lot better than BW seem to be doing) and like to listen to us. Lauren Faust, the creator of MLP FiM, calls us inspiring. Not all of us buy the toys BTW. There was a meetup in London recently where around 100 people turned up to just enjoy themselves at a pub. We aren't some kind of weirdos. I'm no different mentally and psychologically than most anyone in this thread.

There probably is, or they would like the same things, such as MLP, which apparently they do not.
But psyches are strange things anyways and should best be left alone.

That's an interesting way of looking at it, and I suppose that I have never been one for merchandise in general, be it book, game or TV-show related.
That said star trek figures are designed to be ornament pieces for trekkies, and shakira posters are desinged to be hung on the wall by horny teenage boys, while pony figures are really designed to be toys for little girls. I suppose that in essense having them as ornaments and having star trek figures as ornaments is essentially the same thing, but I can't help but find it... odd. I'd never criticise somebody for it, I have no right to judge them, but I have always found it strange.

I think the problem stems from the fact that My Little Pony was always aimed at little girls. It was right there with Barbie, back when I was a kid. It would be like if they rebooted the GI Joe cartoon where everyone was a love interest and they talked about feelings for 30 mins.
I know I'm stereotyping, but that's the point. MLP was ALWAYS stereotyped as a "girl" thing. What boy, or *ahem* grown up man enjoyed combing his little pet pony? Probably not many. Yeah, G4 of MLP is quite a different colour (because it is created and wriitten by Lauren Faust who made PowerPuff girls, Fosters home for imaginary Friends and The Iron Giant) compared to the older versions 80's to 2009, G3(shudder) which even I wouldn't touch with a 20ft pole. The characters are just very 3-dimensional in their personalities and they get actual character development. Part of the reason why we like the show so much. Also did the older generations have a bears neck get snapped, (it still survived) and an epic fight scene?

Some like the show, some don't.
The only thing wich is odd or "creepy", is the obsession over this.
