I learned the hard way without a save for 30 minutes. The old hag shapeshifts into a bloody dragon and handed my entire party's ass to them. Figures Morrigan would bang you and send you off to your doom. Least I took the time to bang her twice with my wife watching me play hah. Has anyone beaten this thing?. I also had my party's ass handed to them on the mountain top from a dragon when I banged on the gong.

What's the trick if any?.

Flemeth is no different from the High Dragon, except she doesn't move which makes her a lot easier.

You get nothing for killing her, so just agree to take the grimoire to Morrigan and lie about killing Flemeth.

Don't bang things?

But it really depends on your difficulty setting. With Flemeth you can just sit behind that little hill and do ranged attacks, all she can do is spit fire then.

Avoid melee contact except for the tank.

Position your group away from her front.

Only send ONE person in. Preferably with some fire resistant gear like the drake/dragon scale armor.

Equip the rest with ranged weapons while healing the fighter (either with spells or potions). You will easily wear her down.

Thanks.. It was a bit of a shocker and I was cursing quite loudly about not saving the game. Will restart here shortly.

This.  even if it sucks for damage, give a ranged weapon to whoever you bring.  Give your tank whatever fire resist gear you have.  Start the fight by pausing and putting your party on hold.  Then take control of your tank, run up and hit her a few times then face her away from where your party starts.  Then shoot her to death.  Use some potions.  Done.

And...she tends to hurt herself with fire spit when you're close enough.

Not that I suggest abusing it though.

Well... you get experience from killing her but... it's true to just get the easy way out if you're just seeking Morrigan's approval.

If you can use Wynne as a spirit healer then do so, set Shale to use pulverising blows on Flemeth and Alistair to precise stricking. Have around 10 - 15 Greater health poultices and set everyone in your party to have the following tactic: Self - Health Less Than Fifty Percent - Use Health Poultice Least Powerful.

If your mage or Wynne can use Cone of Cold or Crushing Prison maximise these spells as much as you can. Also have a few Lyrium potions around just in case. If one of your party members is grabbed by Flemeth and in her mouth unable to heal pause and use Wynne to heal them as quickly as possible and as much needed.

I hope this helps you, I can do this battle on Hard with much less than I said, but the extras are just in case you have difficulty, please enjoy the game.

EDIT: My grammar was not up to my standards in some sentences.

Shale tanks Flemeth really well, if you give him the large clear/brilliant fire crystals. Better than anyone else I've tried, as a matter of fact.

question, if you don't kill Flemeth, do you still get Morrigan's improved armour? (didn't NOT kill Flem, not even for a reload)

Probably because Shale can't be targeted by her "Pick them up and bite them a lot" attack. That and all his tanking talents tend to stack up his defensive stats a lot better than items could.

Since she does not move, you can put toooons of fire resitence on Shale and make it rain with ranged attacks for the rest of your party. Be sure to have a healer arround. At those leveles, you´ll have the "make pulp" skills of shale (the massive punches, basicaly) so there you go.

Also Leliana, with some massive cunning can help a lot with the "regenerative" skill of bard.

Ice arrows and ice spells.

I killed her on hard at Level 12.  You're probably trying to kill her with a melee party Range = Win have 1 tank and Force field him.

The problem with Shale tho is he gets knocked down and takes forever to get back up and can't pot in time.

That's essentially cheating.  You can beat the High Dragon at level 7 that way.  ;-)

Use bombs. No really, just make massive amounts of them and spam away. I love those things. :)

Easily tanked (side step the flame breath, face away from party, don't attack with the other party members until tank has aggro ASSUMING YOU KNOW HOW AGGRO WORKS) bring lots of health pots since Morr isn't there to heal your ass.

Your other melee will die, Leliana is however a total beast, range it until you win. =P

You can't afford enough bolts or arrows at level 7.

Down warmth balms to protect you from the fire breath stuff, or invest in some fire-reisistant jewelry. Use health and lyrium. Have a dedicated archer with arrow of slaying, a couple of melee fighters standing at opposite ends of the dragon.

I think Morrigan dies in the ending if you let Flemeth go, but that's just what I've heard around here. Never tried it myself. Anyway, it's a worthy fight, so why waste it by skipping it?

t's a hard fight if you got 3 melee chars since there's not enough room to really do any damage and she tends to use all of her knock back/damage abilities a lot more often when she is surrounded by melee.

On my nightmare run where I normally used morrigan, alistair, wynne and my dagger/dagger rogue. I used Leliana instead of Morrigan and then had a bow on my rogue in the start. That way I could control the fight and for the last half of the fight I went in melee with my rogue.
