Zaeed, because of (and I'll quote someone before me) "BIG GODDAM HEROES" that's why.
He almost never left my team in ME2. It's sad that he's only a "Hello Shepard I'll be your next war asset! Cool, huh?" No, it's not cool.

Thane. Always and forever the answer is Thane. He was the best new character in ME2 and he and his fans got hosed in ME3.

But if he has to stay dead I'd like Legion back as a consolation prize.

I thought Thane had one of, if not the most satisfying character arc in the game. I didn't romance him, and I hear there were a lot of issues with his characterization if you did, but I thought his treatment in game was excellent, save a few minor gripes.

Miranda of course. And this is more than personal preference. Miranda suffered most from being not included in a story featuring an organization she's been second-in-command of as one of two primary antagonists.

Distrust of her by the Alliance crew would've made great hooks for small stories and scenes on the Normandy. She could've been a required squadmate at Cronos Station. ME3 as a whole would've been better for it.

.........................Image IPB He's dead, after a whole lot of forshadowing about a cure. You get ONE goddamn meeting with him before that SOB Leng stabs him and then after that no-one even mentions him, even if he was your LI.

You and I have vastly different meanings of the word 'excellent''.

All of them. Let me have the fully customisable squad I thought I was getting after the end of ME2.

But if I had to choose, then I choose the psychotic biotic.

Jacob, Jack, Samara or Miranda.. i love my Adept, but taking Kaidan or being forced with Liara when he isnt around to make massive splosions all the time is annoying. I must be one of the few people that *cannot* stand Liaras voice >.<

She wasn't second in command of Cerberus. She was in put in charge of the Lazarus cell. That's one cell of many. TIM wouldn't send his second in command on a suicide mission.

In ME2 she was one of TIM's top operatives. In ME3 she says she was Cerberus second-in-command. (first talk on the Citadel).

But it can al be due to a novice writer doing her in ME3. He forgot a lot of thing regarding Miranda, the only thing Miranda speaks in ME3 is about Oriana.

Well it wouldn't be the first ME3 inconsistency with ME2.

Miranda.
Would have been much happier if they kept EDI a disembodied AI and let Miranda take her place. EDI was fine the way she was. legion would be a close second.

The Illusive Man.
Oh, I'm sorry, you meant squad members? In that case, gonna have to go with either Legion or Zaeed.
I miss those guys. ;n;

Definitely Miranda. There's no reason that she can't track Orianna while on the Normandy especially with the Shadow Broker on the same ship. Miranda had so much potential in ME3 and would have made an excellent squadmate but it's all wasted. She should have been a temp squadmate for TIM's station at the very least.

I also would have picked Samara as my asari biotic babe over Liara in a heartbeat.

I'm going to say Kasumi. She is a DLC character but bleh. I want my moneys worth >:(, then again I think the DLC was worth it... But it would be nice to have her again in ME3. Meh.

@Tashash I think it's complete and utter Bullsh!t that we went from 12 to 6 squad mates.

Oh and that stupid BS line about a smaller more intimate squad is just that bullsh!t because not a single one of those squad mates were ones my Shep wanted to be intimate with.

Also BS about the smaller more tight knit squad and deeper relationships.Because I say Ashley was more deeper? Her much deeper ingrained mistrust of Cerberus and Shepard was handle so well we got a whole whopping 1 conversation with her on the Normandy where she was drunk and Tali's Zaeed style drunken covo managed to beat Ashley's non-Zaeed style one.

*snip*

Thane no way no way was that even half assed fine, His death hit me the hardest and at first the death scene seemed so well pulled off, until I went back on the Normandy and the longer it sat it was like a giant festering wound that got more infected the longer sits.

Just wanted to comment on this bit. I agree, it is utter bullsh!t. I would love to know how this smaller squad was considered "more intimate".  Does that mean more random, ambient dialogue? Or maybe random party banter? Or maybe it is just randomly random? Again, bullsh!t. I did not develop any relationship with the new people and did not deepen my relations with the older squaddies. I simply did not care because there was little to no actual interaction with them. Of course, we all know who got the most dialogue lines, don't we. Guess what? Not everyone likes her as$.

Thane's treatment wasn't even quarter assed. It was a copy and paste of an afterthought derp moment where they remembered that he actually existed for more than an idiotic fight with an epically fail excuse of an assassin. As for the festering wound, you and I both know that those never end well. Although in my case, it will simply end with me spending my money on better developed games from other companies.

I always thought and it's just a thought... they should have given us the choice who to recurit back on the Normandy. It could be something like having 6 slots, one would be for the love interest, one slot would have to be a VS character and the other four slots would be an open choice to who ever you meet along the way.

So my team would look like this: Thane, Kaiden, Garrus, Tali, EDI and Samara

I don't even know if I am making any sense. lol.

I just wanted my love interest to freakin' live and have Samara back on the Normandy. ._______.

Miranda, definitely. Great character and would have made for an interesting dynamic, especially compared to all the friendlier (and duller for it) faces.
