I imagine if you wiped out the turians or the asari would you feel worse?

Its pretty evil of shepard to do such a thing. Making a backroom deal with the enemy that wipes out his ally as they fight for him.

Edit:

How ironic that the geth initially sided with the reapers purely for survival. Self determination takes a back seat next to non existance for them. They let the reapers control them fully. Yet they believed in shepard and decided to fight for the organics against the old machines. The cut content has geth prime deliberatly say they are fighting for their survival.

Looks like they should have stayed with the reapers after all

One of many, many issues with the "no win" endings.

I wonder how people would have reacted if to kill Saren you had to kill EVERY Turian in galaxy. This being the only way to stop another "Saren" from rising up again.

No... If the Destroy option stated that it would kill all humans, but allowed the galaxy to live.... I still would have chose it.

The race in question isn't the issue. Its like wiping out NYC with a nuclear bomb in order to stop a deadly virus from killing everyone on Earth. Yes, its a horrible decision.... but the RIGHT one.

The other two options are only MORE horrific.

Yes, unfortunately it's a necessary sacrifice since otherwise you get into the trap of the genocidal technological singularity who peaked into your brain assuming the shape of the child and tried to convince you to leap to your death selling you some space magic.

No, I felt terrible, even worse than I would for the asari! I just couldn't handle the idea to sell out and become Saren or TIM in the last second!
All the ending options made me incredibly sad and angry! They simply make no sense and the explanation the catalyst is giving us for the reaper invasion sucks!

Yeah, sure is nice to know anything you ever did, no matter how many fences you mended, conflicts ended, or met.

None of it mattered.

Wiping out thier own allies behind thier back is something TIM or Saren would do. Shepard has always been about finding another way.

"Would you consider EDI to be truly alive?"

/has a sad

Just take comfort in knowing the Geth died for the most noble cause in the galaxy: Artistic Integrity.

This is how I view the ending choices from a "perfect" Paragon playthrough viewpoint:

a) Destroy: betray your allies
B) Control: betray everything you stood for
c) Synthesis: betray the entire galaxy

Either way, you lose.

Well, there is a way to make everyone (Geth included) glowing super-husks. Or you can make all Geth slaves. You got real choice and should feel better. Now buy more DLC!

Geth are in essence immortal, they cannot die since they are purely software, the platforms are only tools, the same goes for EDI who's main software resides within the computer core of the Normandy.

They should have showed the geth fighting showing faith in shepard to get the doors open. Then show the utter horror as their race is destroyed in the largest double cross ever executed.

Edit: Considering renegade shep shoots mordin, shoots wrex, kills VS, threatens joker and shoots legion 3 times, wiping out legion, his family, his people and his little geth dog could be seen as the ultimate renegade after all.

So you would sacrifice the entire galaxy(geth included) instead of destroying the reapers and the geth?

Not sure how that makes any sense.

The alternatives leave the Reapers alive and ready to do more terror to the galaxy, now without a Shepard to stop them. And no, I do not believe that everything Shepard is and feels and stands for will be uploaded in control. Something that once was Shepard will become the new catalyst, and I do not like this idea. And Synthesis? The REapers are essentially the most powerful race of half-ynthetics left in a galaxy of...inferior half-synthetics...

Will there be peace? answer Starkid: the cycle will end...that's all he says...Hail to our new Half-synthetic overlords!?

No, Legion and the non-heretics made it clear: They never wanted to be messed around with by the Reapers. They wanted no interference from them, no fast evolution. They knew how fearsome the Reapers are, and that they need to be dealt with once and for all, for the sake of the entire galaxy and everything that is still to come.

And personally,  I'd rather sacrifice some programs than organic life. Organic bias, I know, but I also think that the Galaxy will lose more with Shepard gone than with the Geth destroyed. My opinion, I never was much of a fan of the Geth anyway...

I'll come out and say it: Natural life >>> Synthetic life. Don't care if that makes me a robo-racist or whatever, it's what I believe.

Also, can't we just rebuild the Geth? What's stopping us from doing that?

Well, at least they can be recreated.
