I dislike Specialist Traynor, what was the point of replacing Kelly Chambers.

Chambers was hotter IMO, but I have no problem with Traynor. Regardless, Chambers had to disappear when she quit Cerberus. She was never really free to apply for the position, and wouldn't have been considered anyway: The Normandy is an Alliance ship now. Shepard has extenuating circumstances but Chambers did join Cerberus of her own will.

True, but that still doesn't make him interesting.

I know. No clone of mine could like Traynor more than Kelly.

It's not even that Traynor is bad. It's just that she's not Kelly.

That's what I named her. Whenever I walked past her, and pressed 'A' to talk, I said in my very best Shepard voice, "Is there anything I should know Not-Kelly?"

I think two things.
1. They couldn't get the voice-actor who did Kelly back.
2. They wanted to add the same-sex romance and it fit well with number 1.

Would have liked Chambers in the game but not a real biggie for me.
Traynor was just as good of a character.

Um Chambers and Sam have two different jobs.

One plays chess and showers with clothes on.

The other dances and feeds your fish.

I like Traynor, at least she has a personality (unlike Chambers).

not to mention
Chambers has been mentally traumatized after the collector base

Kelly is one of my most rememberable (and liked) characters from ME2 in my games, so I must disagree strongly about the no personality bit. As with many (most?) characters in previous games she was very well done.

Edit: And Kelly made me feel good throughout the game, quite an achievement.

I liked Traynor better.

She has a better voice actress and is lot more content than Kelly had. Because she has more content Traynor actually feels like she has a role on the ship, whereas Kelly's lack of content made her seem as if she was hired just to tell Shepard when his inbox was full.

How did Traynor play like part of the crew?

Traynor's expertise as a comm specialist opens up at least one side mission, and she has plot relevance. She is the one that manages to track Kai Leng to Sanctuary following the fall of Thessia.

Kelly is in Mass Effect 3. You can find her with the other refugees on the Citadel, and she is even a potential LI. If she has a new voice actress, I didn't notice.

For my first playthrough (ME2 only import, FemShep Inf) that met up with Kelly at the end of ME2, she romanced Sam after Kelly was hunted down by cerberus during the coup.

As for preferring one over the other, like most have said already, they perform 2 different functions on the Normandy, and Kelly being Cerberus, and not part of the alliance at all, kinda explains why she isn't on the Normandy. And i liked them both equally in their respective roles.

I loved Traynor. In ME2, I "nothing'd" Kelly. That is to say, I neither liked or disliked her because she wasn't much of a character really.

I did think it was a little weird that she didn't show up in my game just because I didn't romance her.

Kelly really let herself go after the events of me2. There was only one way she would be getting back on my ship and that was on a treadmill.

This has to be a troll thread besides feeding my fish and shaking her @$s in my cabin what was Kelly good for. Traynor found valuable intel that helped save lives.

Kelly got a bit annoying, and if Traynor didn't have underwear then Garrus would have hit the can.

I found Traynor to be quite annoying. I don't know about those of you who like her character, but I was a bit disgusted by her timidity near the end of the game, just before the point to which your saves after the wonderful ending resume (i.e. Horsehead Nebula).

I liked Traynor more than Kelly. She seemed more professional, focused, and generally useful. If a bit out of her depth.

Chambers just seemed too flighty. And for a ship's counselor seemed rather disinterested in the fact that the captain of the ship had recently been DEAD.

This.

But besides that... Kelly was a joke of a romance and as flat as characters get. She was cool, yes, to that I agree. But Traynor actually DID something. She FELT like part of the crew...

And it was nice hearing another accent other than American/Canadian for once :-)

How did Traynor play like part of the crew?  I'm on my second male playthrough of ME3 and Traynor is just as dull and boring as my first run.

Kelly was a real keeper, she always asked how were you doing, told you the status of the crew members, even offered to tidy up your Cabin.  You get none of these pleasentries from Traynor.

She did point you to two awesome missions, and had a shower scene... though why someone would ware a bra and panties in the shower is beyond me.

Well, I watched Kelly get melted down into a DNA paste right before my eyes, which actually caused me some trauma for awhile. I'm glad Traynor came aboard the Normandy.
