My theory is, with Miranda off the ship, now they needed someone with a British accent, to appeal to Euro gamers.

But besides that... Kelly was a joke of a romance and as flat as characters get. She was cool, yes, to that I agree. But Traynor actually DID something. She FELT like part of the crew...
And it was nice hearing another accent other than American/Canadian for once :-)
How did Traynor play like part of the crew? I'm on my second male playthrough of ME3 and Traynor is just as dull and boring as my first run.
Kelly was a real keeper, she always asked how were you doing, told you the status of the crew members, even offered to tidy up your Cabin. You get none of these pleasentries from Traynor.

I like Traynor, but as far as what I saw with my fem-Shepard and her in the shower, it was pretty stupid.
I once talked to a "real" lesbian woman, and she said something to me I never forgot. She said..."you know, I don't sleep with my girlfriend for any reason different than you sleep with your wife. Its not about male fantasy"...... Now I know it very much is a male fantasy seeing all female flesh tangled up everywhere you look, like that. Then add the obviously model quality, lipstick lesbian factor that a fem-Shepard and Traynor do bring into this. I'm guess Ilm saying if you really are about your social correct statements, you would not so obviously go straight for the lipstick lesbian stuff. You could write dialogue that gives them the two people who just happen to be attracted or are in love into it, rather then hitting us right over the head at the start with the fantasy. Right away Traynor and Shep come onto each other, and then the stupid shower while fully dressed comes in because you can't even be logical about it.... It just kind of betrays the whole point of being politically or socially correct.
If they took a bit more time to develop a Traynor/fem-Shep lesbian relationship. If instead of going to the cliche women hot for each other right off that bat, you go and make them two humans first, then you maybe are a little more honest, and in line with your point of doing this to begin with.

Traynor is considerably more important to the mission than Kelly ever was. Besides, and let's be honest here, Kelly was the one who brought scale itch on to the Normandy...just sayin...
I did follow a friendship path, at least I think I did. The dinner option never showed up and I talked with her at every chance I got.jeweledleah wrote...

I prefer Traynor. I had considered having my FemShep go after her and break up with Garrus, but decided against it. Never really cared for Kelly, but I am still annoyed that the only way she'll show up is if you have your dinner date with her and my FemShep isn't a lesbian. So, according to that, she's dead for me in my ME3 game even though I saved her in ME2.
you can have friendly dinner with Kelly >_> when you first talk to her, instead of chosing "i'll embrace you" pick "I'll catch you" that starts the friendship path. she still comes to dinner and feeds your fish, but she doesn't offer to dance for you, even if you romance no one else.
they left dinner as a fade to black on purpose, to basicaly let people imagine whatever they want to.
Every reason you're throwing at as to why Traynor is better suited is pointless because Bioware could have easily just stuck with Kelly Chambers for ME3 being on the Normandy and have that character do everything Traynor had.Fxnris wrote...
The galaxy is at war, Traynor has skills suited for combat analysis etc, all chambers is, is a bloody crew psychologist.
The Normandy is a warship, not someplace everyone can play 'house'.
Sounds harsh but put it this way, a zombie apocalypse occurs, who would you rather have by your side, a loveable hippy or a special forces soldier, I know what I'd pick.
Inb4 you say, I know Traynor isn't a soldier, but it's just for comparison sake.
Besides, it's Traynor that intercepts transmissions that help save Grissom academy etc, without her, you wouldn't have got there in time.
It's an RPG yes, but the galaxy faces annihilation, we're not playing The Sims.

Two reasons:
First, no one would they allow a Cerberus supporter and member to join the Alliance. (Joker and Chakwas never counted officially as part of Cerberus)
Secondly, Lez romance!
But I do wonder where all these so called helpers come from. They all seem to be open minded and love their own gender very much.

I don't like Chambers or Traynor, a parrot would be more useful. Sit it in a cage next to the private terminal and have it squawk "aark new messages commander, arrrk!" at you whenever you walk past it.

Kelly Chambers the Human Screensaver was a bubbly sick joke even from the start. Why shouldn't she be devalued for ME3? If anything her content in ME3 seems way more appropriate. I'm not surprised to hear that creature had PTSD. She was never solid, especially considering her combined credentials and choice to be with Cerberus.
This news about Traynor showering in bra and panties is eye-roll inducing to be sure, but at least it's only relegated to one scene and only for the people who romance her. Whereas, Kelly's stalking habits surpassed Liara's. Traynor does exhibit hero-worship and she could stand to read some of her lines a bit faster, but at least she's more about the jobs at hand. She isn't some sad creature that hopes Shepard will take pity on her.
