Cliff hanger.
Not entirely surprising though, due to DLC.
However, unresolved questions will remain unresolved and there is nothing can be done about it. Except to create your own answers.I just hope the next chapter of Thedas will be closed properly this time either through ultimate sacrifice or happy ending for those who survive. Bittersweet ending always leave room for more question than close it in satisfying manner.

No it because retailers have no interest to take DA2 ultimate edition at this moment.Will8585 wrote...
Im guessing all the criticism the developers received on the game made them decide not to go any further with it?
Edit: Oh you mean expansion? The devs said they are looking for better opportunity, I think the Next Big Thing appeals more people than DA2 expansion.

That probably played a factor. Another theory that's been floated out there is that they stopped working on DA2 so they could bring out DA3 on a new XBox console.

I agree...the way DA2 ended with leliana and the seeker discussing the whereabouts of the champion..it just doesnt seem fitting too end the game like that.

To save the world from itself somewhere more "French" That's what the dev said. Too vague? I know.Will8585 wrote...
Any word out there on what the storyline may be in DA3?
I'm still waiting for further news. Until then everything is just hypothetical. So far I like the sound of it. Hopefully, they can be executed properly and turn DA 3 a masterpiece this time. Looking forward for it.

though I was really annoyed that hawkes story wouldn't be concluded. I was looking forward to the exalted march. The whole reason I didn't mind the cliffhanger ending was because at the time i assumed they would do the same thing they did in Origins.
Sigh.
DA3 hopefully will work well. Legacy was very well done. so theres promise.
I just want a story line that concludes...in a reasonable fashion.
I cant handle another unresolved story. Not in my hobbies.

Developers don't make or cancel products because of hurt feelings or mediocre reviews. I think people got the idea in their head that this expansion was almost done and then the plug was pulled. Likely the expansion was still in the very early stages when it was canceled(and it was likely canceled months ago) and was undoubtedly because of timing and money. It probably wouldn't have been out until the summer, which is a long time since Mark Of The Assassin(which wasn't nearly as well recieved as the previous DLC) and a VERY long time since the initial release of DA2. It wouldn't have been worth their while(or investment) so they scrapped it before it got off the ground to move on to DA3. I'd be willing to bet that several plot points from the expansion were folded into Asunder to set up DA3.

But on the bright side at least this means DA3 will now have more time in development.

When BioWarEA quit on the last DLC it was actually refreshing to me. It was almost like they were finally getting the fact that they really blew it with DA2 and it gave me hope that they just might put more effort into DA3.

DA2 ended for me as soon as I finished the demo. I could not deal with the super flying space ninja monkey combat. There was a lot more I didn't like about the demo, but the combat made DA2 unplayable for me, other things I could have overlooked ... in the demo. Other things that came out after the game was released would have also made it hard for me to play the game.

I know DA2 had some flaws compared to Origins, however the actual story and characters were still pretty damn good and im sure the developers could have corrected some of these issues in subsequent dlcs (which it seems they did to a point).
I guess my main problem with the retirement of DA2 is that this is a huge storyline in the Dragon Age world and it seems as if Bioware abandoned it before its completion to move on to the next project. They are leaving Hawkes story unfinished when he/she was hyped to be one of the most significant figures in Thedas. Although I am eager to play the next installment in the Dragon Age world, Bioware should wrap up the DA2 story to a close before they move on...they are leaving a lot of fans (and paying customers) unhappy with this decision.

ROFL! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, but the thought of BioWarEA doing anything that would make a fan unhappy just kills me.
As far as the story goes, maybe they will give us some books or comic books or something to fill some gaps. ME did that between ME2 and ME3.

And the combat ruined it for me too. It got really boring just pressing "A" over and over again.
The story didn't really do it for me either. In Origins, the Warden beat the arcdemon and saved the world. In DA2, Hawke freed Flemeth and failed to stop the mage/templer war.
I also don't really read any of the books or comic books related to games I play, nothing against people who do, I'm just not into it. So I don't really have any input on that.
