It kind of bites from a story POV, but there's still the gameplay! (of each game) *shrugs* Do I regret it? Hell no! Waiting to see how all of this unfolds, but no game in this series is worthless because of a few minutes.

I think if folks looked at it from a gameplay perspective, it may not sting as much. *shrugs again*

I said in my review that I invested 100's of hours on the trilogy which resulted in 'the most underwhelming, unrewarding, unfinished and unsatisfying endings I have ever witnessed in a videogame and feel it was a waste of my time.

Having said that I would like to see another Mass Effect game before I die.

But it will probably won't be until the next cycle.

Yes ME2 had it's flaws but was still enjoyable, hell it was worth a 9 in my book.

ME3 however only had 2 great "acts" in the full game. I would only give ME3 a 7.

Even those (Tuchanka and Rannoch, but particularly Rannoch) were blatant in pushing you to one side of the debate - for the Krogan, for the Geth. Cerberus went from a morally ambiguous black-ops organization with 150 members to the new Sith Empire almost overnight. There wasn't as much nuance to the writing as was seen in the previous titles. ME2 got it about right, IMO.

I wish I hadn't had so much trust for BioWare, I should have made room for error, I didn't think they'd screw it up. I wish I didn't call myself a fan and let myself get hurt. It was my fault.

But getting invested into the game, on a gameplay level, and just enjoying content. No, I did like the games, even 3 to an extent.

A little bit. Some things were very disappointing and my expectations were way too high going into ME3. But it was still a very good experience overall. I think it helps that I've only been playing this series since January of 2011. I started with ME2 on PS3, before switching over to the 360 and playing the entire trilogy on there. I have logged 300+ hours into this series since then, so I'm definitely invested in it. But the people who have been playing since 2007 probably have more reasons to be disappointed.

I agree.
I especially hated what they did with cerberus in general. So much wasted potentional.
I couldn't even take the game seriously anymore,

Probably my own sense of justice, but I didn't need much pushing in these cases, since I'm always for the underdogs. So it was never a question whom I would support. The Krogan as well as the Geth had it right from the start. Well, with the Geth I needed a bit of convincing, having fought nothing but in the first part, but it certainly wasn't a question with the Krogan.

No, Jack's character influenced a lot of my music writing and I love all the characters that Bioware came up with.

I sided with the Krogan, too. But I have serious reservations about the Geth, very big things that were never addressed. I don't want to start a debate - it's one of the most contentious issues on these boards - but if forced to choose, I'll side with the Quarians every time. I still think they character-assassinated Han'Gerrel.

I briefly started ME1 again last night and got caught up in that game again. I just love the music. Sure it isn't perfect but maybe because it was the first, I like it the most.

I tried ME2 also last night... felt like I was fighting in molasses. I cannot believe how much more fluid the fighting is in ME3.

All this to say that ME3 did put a damper on my desire to play through the whole trilogy again, but not enough to dampen how much I enjoyed ME1. I wish ME3 had you board the Citadel to join up with Bailey and company to storm the control room ala the run to meet up with Saren.

Oh well.

Played the three games 4 times each. Worth every minute and every penny.

For a videogame, of course, with expectations appropriately set.

Nope, one of the few game series to come along that I can say I really really enjoy. I enjoy Mass Effect enough so to have bought all three books which I also enjoyed(won't buy Deception) ME3 may not have ended how I would like or pictured but I will let Bioware hopefully correct this. Even so that doesn't take away from me enjoying ME3

If they don't fix the ending than yes. That said, I will wait for the EC until passing final judgement. But my faith has been shaken.

at first I did. the disappointment I felt after finishing ME3 was painful. but I'm back to not regretting in no matter how badly downhill the franchise went. because in the end, it doesn't take away what ME1 and ME2 did for me, for my creativity, for my role playing ability or the people I've met because of it.

even though "its only a game" I've learned a great deal from it, about people, about myself. so no. I don't regret it. just like i don't regret some truly ****ty things that happened to me in real life. because we are the sum of our experiences, good or bad, "trivial" or "important"and regrets are not very productive.

NO! ME1 and ME2 were great, ME3 was ok but the endings ruined it.

Mass Effect 3's ending sucks. That is it. The game was great. Fantastic even. The Mass Effect trilogy still is and will always be one of my favorite game series of all time. We are getting extra content for the ending that will repair most of the damage, those repairs being fixed plot holes and the delivery of information/cutscenes showing us how our decisions mattered.

Mass Effect 3 is a great game and this uproar over the endings is getting ridiculous.

I disagree about the outrage, I can't think of another company who has gotten people  so invested in a game that a single aspect of that game outraged so many people it causes semi organized protest, it is a true testament to what Mass Effect is to gaming, and for EAware to brush people off is just downright insulting.

In response to the OP- I don't regret getting emotionally involved in the franchise, as I had a lot of fun. But I do regret hours of reloading and experimenting with decisions in expectation that they would payoff in ME3.

Do I have any regrets about ME?

No. I actually love the universe and the games themselves. No, I don't regret investing my time one bit.
I don't really agree with the ending, but it is what it is.

I don't have any particular regrets in getting into the series at the moment.  I do regret getting emotionally jerked around by the ending of ME3.  I'll have to see if the EC fixes things before making a final call.

If not, then to quote Conrad Verner:

"I thought you were a hero! Hero's don't do things like this! I wish I'd never met you."

Yep, very much so. Feels like I wasted a decent portion of about 7 years of my life doing so many playthroughs in ME1 and ME2 (mostly the former) only to have it all rendered meaningless because BioWare phoned it in and has their priorities screwed up for the final entry.

It's like ME3 was a big middle-finger to me for not only all the time I put into the prior games, but also getting into the universe as a whole, for getting into the novels and comics, for spending money on lithographs, art books, action figures, etc. and even dedicating a couple of years to writing a story set in the Mass Effect setting. Not to mention all those debates I've had about things like the Rachni Queen decision with other fans, both on the forums and in real-life.

Yep... ME3 sure did flush that down the toilet, as did the team behind it. They didn't quite ruin the entire IP for me like BioWare did with Dragon Age, but they came damn close. I don't feel like going back to the other games again, and feel like I've been jerked around by Casey Hudson and co. from the beginning. And the outright lies and things like the face import being so utterly screwed didn't help matters.
