So I decided to try an Infiltrator on Insanity after I played through with an Engineer and Soldier. I'm having some trouble deciding which is best on a few things, so I'd like some advice/help.

So basically I'm more of an aggressive Infiltrator focusing more on Sniper Rifle damage output. As such, I have my powers centered around weapon and headshot damage. But here are the things I'm unsure about-v

1. Disrupter Ammo (Goes along with Energy Drain Bonus Power question). So I selected Energy Drain for my bonus power and so far I really don't see it as necessary. If anything, it feels extremely redundant. First of all, there is Disrupter Ammo, which already covers shields. Then I have Garrus with Shile Damage Overload to strip defenses for me. Other then that I don't really know if Energy Drain would really come in handy? If thats the case, what about switching it out for Warp Ammo or AP Ammo? In the case of just sticking with Disrupter and switching out Energy Drain, would Defense Matrix be a good choice for a bonus power? NOTE: The abscense of Shield Bleed really kills the value of Disrupter Ammo on a Sniper Rifle unfortunately.

2. Sticky Grenades. Since I'm focusing on long-range Sniper combat, I'm not really sure if these are even necessary. Maybe for dealing with Armor, but I have incinerate for that, right? I'm also specing James' Grenades for Armor Damage.

3. Sabotage. With the lack of Tech Power abuse, I really don't even think I'll use this AT ALL, save for a few Prime hacks. Advice for this?

4. Also, my last question is more general then the above. Whats the earliest I can amass 250k Credits (From a ME2 imported save) so I can buy the BW?

I loved the sticky grenades on brutes....do a lot of side missions to get credits although, not sure if you will make that much more money on a 2nd/3rd playthru if you did a lot of the side missions on the 1st one as I dont think they become available since you already "did" them so you will have to rely on priority missions and/or what you find laying around. dont know if that will add up to the 250k that you need, let alone credits for other stuff...

Sabotage is fun for hacking turrets.

An aggressive sniper? Shotguns may be better suited for aggressive play. Maybe I misunderstand how you are playing.

If you are playing as a one-shot sniper (if/until you get the Black Widow), Energy Drain will be much more useful than Disruptor Ammo. The extra headshot damage is good for the Mantis, unless you only snipe under cloak in which case it may be redundant.

2. Sticky Grenades. Since I'm focusing on long-range Sniper combat, I'm not really sure if these are even necessary. Maybe for dealing with Armor, but I have incinerate for that, right? I'm also specing James' Grenades for Armor Damage.

Sticky Grenades are fun and are okay, but I never really used them until about the end of the game and never found them all that great. Some other people like them.

3. Sabotage. With the lack of Tech Power abuse, I really don't even think I'll use this AT ALL, save for a few Prime hacks. Advice for this?

Sabotage is awesome. You can use it to hack Cerberus turrets, which you will face more often than Geth. Its usefulness for tech bursts on an Infiltrator is debatable, but you want it for the hacking.

4. Also, my last question is more general then the above. Whats the earliest I can amass 250k Credits (From a ME2 imported save) so I can buy the BW?

Do not know. If you save your credits and scan all the planets you can for war assets (some give credits), you should be able to buy the Black Widow before starting Priority: Tuchanka. Just make sure you do as many sidequests as you can.

Help that was somewhat helpful.

I'm finishing a number of sidequests before I do Grissom Academy and I have around 140k right now.

And my real quest about the Disrupter Ammo is: "Is it even necessary with Garrus using Overload?".

u gotta be careful cuz grissom academy is a timed mission and I think if you do more than 4 missions, it will be considered a failed mission...

As far as buying the BW, I didn't really spend any credits beforehand, but I did all available missions/fetch quests, then Palaven, then the Rachni mission + the other fetch quests that unlocked. At that point, when I bought it I still had yet to do any of the Tuchanka missions, Grissom, or Benning. I think I took the store discount upgrade at the terminal, though, so I think that might have barely put me over the line and I might have had to do one more mission otherwise.

Don't forget Tech Vulnerability for Sabotage. That is one of the 'must have' evolutions of any power. It will make taking down large targets much easier.

Earliest point I have amassed 250k credits is straight after Sur'kesh. This is collecting all the cash finds in the exploration mini-game and all credits in the missions to that point and pretty much not upgrading anything (think I maybe I added one or two weapon upgrades so may be possible just before Sur'kesh) but it's pretty tight thing.

Didn't bother with Disruptor ammo. Just use ED for Cerberus, take garrus for squad AP ammo, and take Ashey on the Geth missions with Squad Disruptor (though AP seems pretty decent against Geth as well). Never seen much value in Disruptor ammo with BW, Widow or Javelin. Maybe Indra can make use of it, but I don't have that.

I have to disagree with the people that are advocating against disruptor ammo. My infiltrator playthrough was on insanity, and energy drain wasn't strong enough to completely break the shields on many units. However, it seems that ammo powers get calculated and applied separately from the rest of a weapon's damage, so adding disruptor ammo give you a limited capacity to break shield gating. Once I picked up the black widow, I could basically ignore the shields on any non-armored enemy.

Sabotage: Cerberus turrets.

Yes that is exactly right.  The ammo power damage is applied to the enemy before the "bullet" damage, just as it was in ME2.

This means that Disruptor on a Mantis, Widow, or Black Widow can potentially deal a fair amount of shield damage.  It is very nice if an enemy has nearly stripped shields and you want to dispatch them with a single shot.

Disruptor is an excellent ammo power in this game not only due to that limited "bypass" of enemies as above, but also because it can stun targets and set up tech bursts.  Granted, it is not as good for tech bursts out of a one-shot rifle, but it is still very useful.  I think it is more valuable on the high damage rifles than AP ammo as three of them get free cover penetration, most have high enough damage that -50pts from armor isn't a big deal, and because the SR Piercing mod can give you comparable performance.  On an infiltrator you don't need the concentration mod and can use that slot for SR Piercing and run Disruptor Ammo.
