I'm a bit fuzzy on the patch though; I own an Xbox game, and I believe the console games weren't suffering from the dex bug.

been for archers, + attack, defense, as well as physical resist against
incoming talents.
At the end, cun based rogues the like would do
two times the damage, sounds good on paper, but in practice, the
importance of dex when you facing your enermies, you will know the
difference as dex covers such a wide area of your character combat
value.
Have a look at a small example of this vid:
Cunning is good to have, but never have it more than dex, just my view.

Still going cunning for bard though

Why so?
Also with the second Assassin talent, how does that work exactly? Wouldn't more Cunning be better for that?

Because the potency of the Bard songs scales with Cunning.

Yes it would if you only talking about wht status would benifit to that one talent.
Please have a read on other threads about rogue, you might find it more rewarding by bumping a thread, however nothing to stop you from doing so.

So with that talent in mind, I suppose I might go Cunning and then rely on Party buffs to increase Attack/Defence...

Everyone's character will be different because we all have different point of views and different game playing stratigies.

What about Zevran? I was thinking doing the +1 Cunning, +2 Dex...

If you want to go the DEX Dagger route, forget backstabbing. With your puny 22 CUN base, you wont be benefiting much from Expoit Weakness and Tainted Blade. With your high attack rating and high defense rating, its better to just spend your time in the frontlines and be the happy swashbuckler that you are.
Kill fast or Survive longer? Choose your builds wisely.

Strength: Allows to use "real" melee weapons instead of daggers, gives 1/2 attack and 1x damage
Dexterity: Gives 1/2 attack
Cunning: Gives Armor Penetration and, with Lethality and if higher than Strength, 1x damage (instead of Strength!)
With Dexterity fix and daggers, damage is instead 1/2 Dex, 1/2 Str or Cun.
So if you make a Strength based Rogue, you can use big swords etc and deal a lot of damage plus get high attacks. But for Strength doesnt help you with any Rogue skills, your Rogue will be screwed.
With high Dexterity, you really need the Dexterity fix and use Daggers. That will give you 1/2 damage and very good defense. But then again what do you need that one for? Use Stealth or Feign Death already, and Taunt on your Tank.
With high Cunning, your attack will be bad, but your Armor Penetration will rock, also because you'll be forced to use daggers, as will your damage (if you also have Lethality, anyway). I'm not sure, but doesnt Cunning also raise your chance for critical hits ? Also you will rock as a Rogue, of course.
My personal choice is Cunning. Brilliant Rogue FTW.

What about Leliana and any other archers?

Hmm, I'll go for the Cun build for Zevran (+2 Cun, +1 Dex or All Cun?).
What about Leliana and any other archers?
I went with all cunning, to use his Exploit Weakness. I also had a bunch of +attack though, so him missing wasn't an issue. Rally + Song of Courage works wonders.
Leliana, I did the same thing as Zevran. Just with a bow instead.
Pre-hotfix, Cunning builds are stronger. After, Dex is better if you remove party buffs.

The thing with CUN Dagger Rogues is that you never have to "FACE" you enemies. Your role is not to be a front-liner. You are there to deliver the highest possible damage and kill enemies as fast as possible. You leave the aggro and tanking to the Warriors.
One reason why CUN build is good is because the best equipment set gives up to +20 Dexterity bonus. There are no equipment sets that offer +20 CUN bonus. The +20 DEX bonus offsets the CUN Rogues 35 DEX base giving it a decent (if not high) attack and defense ratings, which too can be offset by party buffs.
