LoL well thought out answer, and it is probably the opinion that reflects the truth of the matter.

I'm pretty sure they'd rehearsed such a question so that was not ad lib. people. Mark was quoting the EA code of 'don't get fired' when he answered that

With a squad of EA drones surrounding him, the whole time.

Watch how the guy next to him is giving him this " Pick your words carefully or we'll eat your limbs ".

It's a diplomatic answer. If you have something nice to say, why would you give an evasive answer?

His non-answer to the question is telling in and of itself.

Actually at this point the VAs of protagonist have the option to anger EA. Story of Shep is mostly concluded, but if they needed more voice work for Shep in EC and hire another VA it'll be like the biggest failure of history of entertainment.

Just a jist, you don't have to quote the whole thing.

Thx.

I can quote the whole thing because it was very short.

"What is your opinion of Mass Effect 3's ending?"

"I think I can say without fear of correction that Mass Effect 3's ending is controversial. Thankyouandgoodnight."

No, you assume too much. I didn't and don't feel insulted at all.

Wouldn't really expect him to say anything about it. Since I'm guessing he is still under contract with Bioware. Good thing he didn't shoot himself in the foot.

Made me laugh. While I get the impression he might not like the ending, I wouldn't be arrogant enough to say either way for definite. He gave the best possible answer given the circumstances.

Haha, gotta respect him for ducking that one so well. The question put him in a no win situation, he was employed by Bioware so can't exactly slate the endings, regardless of his opinions and what they may be. He handled it well ,with a nice touch of humour and, incredibly, came out of it without upsetting anyone lol.

Not assuming anything. If you were not offended, and did not take it as an insult directed at you, you would not have replied with what was supposed to be an insult directed at me. You clearly stated  "people with half a mind", "people like you". So it doesn't leave much room for assuming.

Thanks - but wow, that little bit has created a big argument like this? lol

IMHO he dodged the question quite skillfully - didn't say he didn't like it, didn't say he DID like it either - controversial is the truth no matter which way you paint it.  Does smack of the company line though - esp. if he's been, or might be, called in for more work.

That's fun! Nice that he didn't rush to defend it with artistic integrity and such.

He's not stupid but reading humans is really easy and in this instance this human played a role of not getting in trouble while saying he didn't think the ending was good.

If reading humans is easy, why are you making such a mess out of it?

If Meer had thought the ending was good he'd have said so. No reason not to. Besides that, Bioware would've probably requested him to say so since they need what little good PR they can get and to have Shepard's VO defending the ending would be a major victory for them.

So if he had thought the ending was any good, we'd have known.

You kidding?

Given the treatment many of the fanbase have given to any people of any official capacity who defend the game, being railroaded as 'shill' would have been the best case for him.

Yup. Definitely inept at understanding people.
