So... Either wiping out or subjugating synthetic life is LESS racist that merging with it? Er... OK...

Now don't get me wrong, I don't think that any of the endings are without serious moral problems. You can pick apart the logic of them all, ask why the hell Shepard doesn't argue back more and certainly demand a hell of a lot more explanation but I just can't see synthesis as racist. It would be racist if it were transforming all current life into one of the pre-existing forms such as human but it isn't. It's hybridising them into some new gestalt, the makeup and internal diversity of which is annoyingly totally unexplained.

If I had the skill to do such things, I'd put in a paragon interrupt sign the moment when he's hesitating before "is very controversial", then the bongggg noise as he delivers that line.

Good save Mark, this is why he's such an awesome guy

What he doesn't say speaks loudly too.

Well done Mr Meer, his voice gave life to my Commander Shepard so I'm a fan for ever.   "Thank you and goodnight!"

think i would have spit my coke out if he had just sat there for a second and then said "i should go". It would have been absolutely fricking hilarious.

Rewatch the video. As soon as the question is asked, he mouths "I should go" before actually speaking. :P

How is destroying the enemy that's trying to destroy you racist? It's you or them.
The bad part comes with holding the Geth hostage to that option. That could be viewed as racist, but again the Catalyst is giving these options - even destroy, and the Catalyst is the galaxy's worst racist of all time.

Control? You're controlling the Reapers, not all synthetic life. Of all the endings it comes with the least amount of catches... aside from leaving the Reapers alive.
Does it therefore make sense? Hell no, but it certainly isn't as morally bankrupt as synthesis.

The whole Organics and Synthetics will never get along thing is garbage anyways.

The Geth are synthetic and they go to war with the (Synthetic) Reapers.

The Krogan are organic and they went to war with the (Organic) Council civilisations.

So it's not limited to Synthetics vs Organics.

Some people are so hellbent on defending this logic, that they argue that it includes organics vs. organics, that organic wars will cause collateral damage and the Reapers control that with the cycle.

Because nothing minimises collateral damage like setting planets on fire and blasting apart every artificial structure you come across.

Probably the only answer Meer could have given. But the look on his face would suggest a tendancy to side with the fans over the developer. Maybe I'm worng, but someone who supported the ending would likely have defended it a bit more. He just wrote it off like a lost cause.

Now I'm just waiting for Family Guy or Robot Chicken to do a joke about the game. The former is far more likely to happen before the EC is released and flops. How great would that cut-away be? Maybe have Brian get knocked down a few pegs over his "art". I wonder how that novel is doing...

RAPTORS. WHERE.

At the very least, a bunch of sharks. If EA and BioWare got bloodied up enough for Nexon to be supposedly making a purchase offer, you've got to wonder who else might be waiting to take a bite.  Those are some chummed waters, for sure.

Bah I'm jelly. I've seen a few like those done by Lance, I think he's used to it by now. I like that it remains in his mind, shows he cares.

Here's the thing. It's no longer "you or them" because whatever option you choose, you will no longer be at war with the Reapers going forward. There are three options, none of which involve continued war with the reapers.

In my mind, I place a high importance on the fact that the reapers contain the remnants of all previous sentient organic races for 50 million years. Synthesis is the only option that gives these past species a chance of a future autonomous existence in some form, so to me it is the LEAST racist of the options.

The problem here is of course that the consequences of each option are so poorly explained that we are both extrapolating the outcome of synthesis way beyond what we have been told, and coming to different conclusions based on wholly incomplete data.

That 'guy' you speak of is Quinton Flynn,RAIDEN from the Metal Gear Series.

Also, here's a brilliant video of Quinton & Jennifer Hale (amongst the rest of the MGS voice cast) doing some hilarious improvisation where they pretend to be their ingame characters in real life. Love it.
