I'm not asking "Why is my hit percentage low." I want to know why, when I fire off my Arrow of Slaying it hits the target, and does nothing.
I charge my Arrow of Slaying, it uses energy, it activates the cooldown, it debuffs me, and I can watch the arrow fly into the target. Heck, I can see the arrow IN the target afterwards. Yet it does zero damage to the target.
There is no "missed" message. There is no "blocked" message. There is no "0" (damage) message. There is simply nothing but a wasted ability.
This strange effect happens when firing from stealth and firing from outside of stealth just the same. Ditto to far away and point blank range.
I'm noticing this in about 10-20% of my AoS fired. This is just an observed and estimated percentage.
I am playing on the PC using an updated version, currently on patch 1.2. I cannot comment on this effect happening prior to 1.2, as I didn't use AoS as frequently as today. I have two add-ons installed, Natural Body and the popular Raven Respec mod.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does anyone know a possible fix?
Thank you for reading.
Why is my Arrow of Slaying "missing" its target when it hits its target?

from reading the description, arrow of slaying has a resistence check. that may be the problem.

Two things to note, on that.
One: The way the description reads, the resistance check seems to apply to the critical chance. However I will admit that the description is ambiguious enough that it could mean "resistance check to the arrow." Regardless, if that WAS the case, why does the arrow fly and hit the target? And why is the arrow piercing through the target afterwards? And why don't I get a "Resisted" message?
Two: I've noticed this on white mobs. You know those little dinosaur-like mobs in Caradin's Cross? I think they're called Deep Stalkers or something. Regardless, I hit one of them point blank and it did nothing but waste the cooldown.
Something is wrong here, and I'd like to know if it's me or the game.

I'm noticing more oddities about this character, some which I know weren't in the previous patch. This time about Stealth.
I have Master Stealth (Tier 4) permitting me to Stealth in comabt, even during boss fights. When I stealth in combat, mobs will continue to attack me. Often times I will remain in stealth even while mobs are attacking me. If I attack a mob not attacking me, I will get my Bow-crit, just as if I had just popped out of stealth.
This bug, in addition to some luck, resulted in a curious situation where I was in stealth, a mob webbed me, and a 2nd mob attacked me. The mob attacking me missed for the duration of the web, and I was still in stealth. I pointed my bow at a 3rd mob, one distracted by a fellow party member, and hit it with a critical hit. I was freshly un-webbed while under attack and still able to make a stealth-attack. Something's amiss.
Does anyone know where I can report bugs?
I have experience reporting bugs in games, and try to provide as much information as possible when doing it.

the thing about stealth when considered by enemy AI is peculiar... or so i've noted myself.
I think what's happening in the script is when you're stealthed, you can't be targeted by enemy attacks or abilities. unfortunately for you, this means that all attacks and abilities that were already targeting you do not always get deactivated because of a burp somewhere in the code. if you'll notice (and having a high defense score doesn't hurt), then the attacks go through, and if all of them miss, you'll be stealthed still, and nobody will be attacking you.

I've noticed that. It's odd. If I attack something targeting me, I don't usually get the bow crit. However if I attack something not targeting me I usually get the bow crit. Then again, there are so many things I'm making assumptions of at this point, it's impossible for me to tell. Without a target window, I can't tell for sure if my target is targeting me or not. With random crit chance, I might just be getting natural crits. And without a combat log I can't tell for sure a lot of stuff.
This game has a real "MMO feel" to it; and that's a good thing! I just wish they went closer to a true-on MMO style. Target windows, attack toggles, full-on threat, etc. An extremely easy mechanic to impliment, one which would still be in line with the current setup, would be to have threat multiplier percentages based on weight of armor. Massive armor would be 1.50. Heavy 1.25. Medium 1.00. Etc. That way there's a trade-off of survivability vs aggro control. Ahh, but I'm getting so very sidetracked, and should leave that for another thread.
I did find something rather amusing with Stealth earlier. I had all but perished, and was left with one character standing; my Rogue Archer. With two mobs left he ducked into the shadows, quickly downed a potion, and came out firing arrows into one of them, dispatching it. Feeling a stratigic withdrawl was necessary, he ducked into the shadows once again. Only this time the mob did not give up it's chase. But neither did the mob attack. The mob was following him. Everywhere he went, the mob followed, nipping at his heels like a hungry and lost puppy-dog. It was rather amusing, until I realized I would need to put down my poor little wanna-be-pooch-of-a-darkspawn in order to revive my party members. Ah well, at least I was entertained by the happening.
Add another bug to the list. If party member A has a group buff up, and party member B falls in battle, when party member B gets back up, they will NOT receive party member A's buffs. The simple solution is to not die. When that is not an option, the next simplist solution is to deactivate and reactivate the buffs. This is rather obnoxious for many buffs have lengthy cooldown timers, and we all have to sit around waiting for my mage to recast the 40 passive group buffs everytime someone dies... arrgh!

I encountered the "stealth following" bug most often in the fade. Almost every room where I entered non-stealthed, then switched to stealth, I'd get one guy that followed me. It was really annoying since it is impossible to backstab him from stealth in that situation, so the stealth-backstab-dirty fighting-backstabX5 combo that won so many battles for me as a rogue was changed to stealth-crit-dirty fighting-backstabX2 after repositioning, which wasn't game breaking, but was really annoying.
As for arrow of slaying, yeah, that pisses me off. Actually, it seems to happen to me most often when I'm at point blank range which make no sense whatsoever.
Archery in general pisses me off. Not only is it resisted more easily than similar mage attacks, but it also has the added benefit of having a far too high miss percentage. Honestly, at level 12, 32 dex and 35 cunning, my archer misses with pinning shot 30% of the time and then it's resisted 50% of the time. It gets to the point where you realize the majority of the archer talents are a waste of stamina since they are a gamble and you just start using all your stamina on simply arrow of slaying and scattershot and auto attacking your way through the rest of the game with a rapid aim bow.

There's another problem with AoS. Not only did it miss a LOT for me (at least two thirds of the time, I'm not kidding -- took over half a dozen attempts before my Leliana hit something with it), it also causes an obscene amount of threat when it misses. Has anyone else noticed that? Basically a ranged supertaunt. It's one thing to draw aggro if it hits, but if it does eff all damage it's silly.
