This attitude has been around since SOE literally destroyed Star Wars Galaxies. Donchu know? Players are all stupid and have no clue about what makes a game good and what not...

What garbage.
It pains me that this arrogant little man represents BioWare's attitude in any fashion.

Have you not only made but published and marketed it?
Because apparently if you haven't done all that you aren't allowed an opinion.

Millions of people play these games, wouldn't the law of averages alone dictate at least a few of them are smarter than the so-called artists.

Having been here a while empirical evidence suggests that a vast proportion of players are more honest than the artists and their marketing department. And this is after counting the dummies that use that money exploit in multiplayer and people who pirate the game..

Guys, guys.

If you don't want me to buy your games anymore, just say so. It'll save us both a lot of time.

I've worked on games as well, marketed and released. They all suck, mind you, but I did it. (It's often said your first six games WILL suck before you start knowing what you're doing).

I still do not believe ME3 has a good ending. It's not. I can tell you why on every level, from a literary perspective to a gameplay perspective.

Still, I don't feel insulted. His statements are very true for the most part; being in the industry, I understand a lot of what he says.

But, I would absolutely care what my paying customers have to say. To dismiss it because they "don't understand games" is to violate one of the tenants of game development, and the most important skill I was ever taught: to LISTEN. Learning how to listen is a skill so many game developers don't know how to do, and many even think they do but can't listen in the right place or to the right people.

I just said my games suck. Not from a lack of effort. It's painful to make a game that sucks and people hate, but it's the reality of games. And it's nice to know that even million-dollar games like Mass Effect 3 can suck at places, despite all that skill, knowledge, and talent.

We're not machines; we're still human. But one SHOULD be humble with criticism, from both developers AND paying customers.

The Escapist's forums are filled with pretentious imbeciles who think they know everything about anything game-industry related. Why are you surprised?

Well yeah, I don't expect BioWare to be perfect, but I'll always understand and remain supportive of those who recognise their mistakes and apologise for them.
This guy is basically calling BioWare's entire consumer base know-nothing idiots. I am utterly disgusted.

Edit: Now that I looked it up, I remember that this guy has really nothing to do with BioWare at all. He's BioWare Mythic, makers of the laughable mess that is Warhammer Online.
Yeah no wonder he's so damn bitter. What a joke.

I dunno, Short Man Syndrome, maybe?

Seriously, that is some weapons-grade smugness right there. The PR department really needs to lock this dude down if they ever want to sell another thing.

When did Ricky Gervais get into video game development? Scratch that, Gervais is actually funny.

I just can't finish that video. "Your opinion matter less because you're only a consumer and not my actual peer." So what happen when I'm working for a defense contractor designing fighter jets for a living?  You'd be right in saying we aren't peers. I'd be arguably more important than you because a: when I screw up people might actually die on a rather large scale, and b: I have access to freaking fighter jets. The elitism is astonishing.
