Found a hand full of them over the weekend.

Very frustrating to say the least but... I usually alert the other players and we then decide whether to end the match and kick the player in the lobby, or simply drag his/her lame behind to victory or not.

More often than not we simply end the match. However, during one particular match a leecher actually joined the action towards the end of wave 2 and ended up getting a pretty good score. Go figure. ;)

Cheers

@msantos

Was this guy AFK throughout a previous match?
Maybe he just simply had to do something totally unexpected and it couldn't wait, so he stood out for the first wave.
Happened to me before xD

Actually, I don't see this as proof that we need a kick function.

Bioware could implement changes on their end too. Like giving zero credits to players that give little to no contributions.

Also, on our end, it just emphasizes that advantage of building a good friends list and playing with people you know as often as possible (see the link in my sig).

Forcing people to get a certain number of assists/kills through out the whole game will go some way. Anyway, I always thought it'll be nice to have the payouts be points/medal based.

Gold medal = 3 points
Silver medal = 2 points
Bronze medal = 1 point

Basically on gold you need 3 points to get paid, 2 for silver and 1 for bronze. And of course maybe some allowance for late joiners too, like if you join on wave 10 of gold you only need 1 point.

Me neither, he could have just joined on wave ten.
Usually when there's a leecher that dies a lot we have gold revive medals, not copper. :|
Also, they gain random points in wave 11.
Sometimes if the leechers are in weird positions it means they are stuck and can't do anything, so just use them as decoys for banshees and ravagers.

Edit: a lot of times those types of "stuck" people revive automatically though.

you think that's bad? We had a guy last night purposely try and draw out a gold match. N7 of like 1200 just being a jerk. AFKed for first 4 rounds, then started standing in front of us after that. Then in the final objective, after we got the credits, the three of us went down and didn't want to revive because we had our credits and we were all level 20.

Dude try hards at that point and glitches the last prime once he goes down and instantly revives on opposite side of map and proceeds to **** around for the next 20 minutes. Would have loved to have been able to kick him for doing all of that.

afkers need to get kicked and reported for the sake of all possible players.
Had 2 just today (xbox). Man I'd love to report their asses and get some result done, but you can only put the players into the avoid list...

Allowing friendly fire is clearly the only way to solve this.

The problem with this idea is, that some ****holes, will kick players, at wave 11, so they don't get the exp/credits.

Let's look at how that would work. In CoD HC S/D, there was friendly fire. Game starts. BOOM! One guy blows up whole team with RPG.

Now in Mass Effect... Game starts. BOOM! One guy blows up everyone with a Cobra missile.

Don't think it wouldn't be common either; I'm sure there are plenty of trolls who would take advantage of friendly fire. If it wasn't at spawn it would be at wave 10.

We definitely need an in-game kick though >_> I haven't seen as many leechers lately, but I think that's just cause I've been lucky. This is going to become a problem like it was back in Reach firefight.

the best way to deal with the leechers would be if he or she got less than x amout of points(like the pic from op) no credits should be rewarded

I think if a player doesn't do any actions (such as fire powers, move, etc.) for a whole round, they should automatically be kicked, rather than allow vote kicking in matches... actually, wait, that still won't work, as some people will leave a button pressed or something so their character is always moving or using a power spam, even if they aren't actually at the computer doing anything... hmm... this is a hard issue, as vote-kick in matches has too much potential for abuse, I guess just reporting players who do this...

msamir? I played with him yesterday on silver or gold (can't remember); he joined in to a running game (wave 2 or such) and just sat at the landing zone with a defensive bubble up. On the first credit wave we all died (dunno about the others, but I didn't have any intention to give him easy credits so I didn't care about staying alive) with one objective to go. That's when he became active and started going after them as well, died 2 times in the process and wasted a medigel before giving up, encircled by guardians hehe. Left right after the match...
Guess he decided to not do anything at all after that experience :) Though at least for me it was funny as hell

Then they'd leave something on one of the keys on the keyboard so that their character is always moving, even if it is just running into a wall or barrier constantly...:?

I experienced my first leech last week. Three of us got to wave ten, last part of the objective, and I was the last one standing. I died right on top of the AFKer... no revive.Obviously.

Y did you fail? You can solo Gold, you can't beat it with 3 people? xD

I'm kidding. AFK'ers should be executed in public by a firing squad.

He didn't fail. They completed the wave 10 objective and then died.

I would of quit by wave 3, if someone has zero points. Even if it hurts the team,
I'm not gonna give leechers credit.

That's why I always check the scoreboard after wave 1. Make sure no one's leeching. If they are, I ragequit.

Funny. I was going to post the same thing. I ran across this same guy AND he had a friend with him. They were chatting about the best way to afk. We were in Firebase Reactor. Guy was sitting behind a pipe with his bubble on. It took me a minute to figure out what they were doing and talking about.

I didn't leave because I was hoping to gain some creds to buy a jumbo pack and was curious to see what they were talking about. It was definitely interesting to hear the conversation play out. These guys had no remorse or care for other people's hard work. They were actually making fun of other players and how much work they put into playing. I didn't have a mic, so couldn't say what I wanted to say. I ran over to the guy and started shooting at him and all I could manage to do was attract some enemies towards him.

Something definitely should be done. Just not sure what!

Let's look at how ingame kick would work, you join, at wave 10/11 you doubled your teammates score, they kick you, they get the exp/credits 1/3 to 1/2 of which should be yours, you only get kicked/pissed. Maybe kick inactive players may work, but "zero exp players" kick will suck, because just this sunday, I somehow joined running game, at the end of wave 10, so basicly I leached exp and credits, for only surviveing the extraction (don't think thats my fault). Players who tend to just join game and go AFK, should be flagged somehow, so you can see and kick 'em at the lobby.
