At least there'd be a new enemy...an enemy, I remind you (Javik's coversations), that thought nothing of the join/enslave or die mentality and had many species in their ranks we have yet to see.

Hell, it could even lead to the new arc for a ME4 later on, "Mass Effect 4 Protheans Reloaded +50,0012 years, etc"

Not a chance. It would involve WAY too many entirely new assets for very little payoff.

We've got a date on the SP extended ending, but I am not sure this is valid. I am not going to put any stock in it.

They really should release it as soon as possible, by this summer, we'll have too many new tantalizing games to want to still be playing Mass Effect 3. Diablo, Ghost recon, max payne, etc...Waiting till after the EC would be a bad move in my opinion.

They have different teams working on SP and MP DLC, so MP DLC is not coming at the expense of SP.

If the Protheans being added does end up happening, it basically means lore is entirely irrelevant to MP. That opens the door to a lot of possibilities. One that comes to mind is adding Collectors as enemies. They really only need the one model since there are multiple types. You have the guardian ones with deployable shields, the assassins with particle beam cannons, the "Assuming Direct Control" beefed up ones and, obviously, the regular ones. Adding shields and a sniper rifle makes a new class. Adding shields and armor and a rocket launcher adds another. Etc. It would probably be necessary to add different visual features to make it easier to differentiate them more easily, so simple color changes or bits of armor could be added without requiring much time.

Does this at least mean that new mp characters in future DLC's are confirmed? I don't care what characters, I just really want to ensure Bioware intends to give us more.

Protheans being against lore has been disproven and we have dismissed that claim. Get with the times man. ;)

I tried looking for it in this thread but took too long but yes there was an official twitter post that read male quarians coming soon to multiplayer and showed a cropped image part of a male quarian card.  It was deleted shortly but the image was kept, suspiciously the guy who posted the original image's account was suspended too lol.  (The image can be found somewhere in this thread/gamefaqs)

I just spent 20 minutes googling, and I couldn't find anything even remotely pertaining to the male quarian picture in question.
