Lets say you have to pay for the next DLC.Maps - After a few rounds of FW Geth farming you decide to try the new map in Silver (see what I did there?) however 2 out of the 3 people haven't purchased the dlc so you can't play. What to do?
Kick the 2 out & wait patiently for others to join? Basically causes a divide.
Every time you want to play new map you have to select the new map & join a lobby or create new. With random it will just avoid if no one has the map in the lobby. Is the multiplayer system even smart enough to do that?
Also the amount of dlc purchasers is going to be low, how many will be online actually playing the new maps? Sure at first it will be busy (ish) but eventually they will play other maps & do other things so the numbers will drop. Also if the maps are not very good, even lower numbers.
Characters/weapons - No issues here except jealousy, however with the current unlock system most if not all will be pretty pissed if they have to end up spending 1 mil + credits to unlock characters like usual. What to do?
Special packs for dlc owners that have very high chance of dlc unlocks? I guess but as bioware are constantly screwing up packs, I have no faith in them.
So recap - maps won't be sold.
Characters/weapons could be sold but will have to be a low price. Is it worth it when they have to create a new pack (which will cause issues no doubt) which is the only way I can see it work.
