I think what makes it most unbelievable is that it *does* seem to be, as others stated, a checklist of the most commonly asked for additions to the game. Vorcha, protheans (or even ex-Cerberus, which has also had its fair share of supporters for reasons I don't understand), male quarians, bing bing bing. That, more than anything, leads me to believe it's not true. Resurgence didn't quite have that feel to it when the details were revealed (although to be fair, it was still a little soon for popular demands to be clear at that point).

But I'm also pretty cynical, so keep that in mind.

That doesn't make the story unbeliavable.  The things people are asking for so much are things that I'm sure many Bioware designers wouldve wanted to do anyway.  And really there are a very limited number of options for new classes in this game.  I will say though, that if they add Protheans in MP I would expect it to be connected to a SP DLC that had some in game explanation for them to be included.

And personally this new DLC doesn't have what I really wanted at all.  Namely new enemy factions and new game modes.

I'm guessing they'd put out some single-player DLC before releasing more MP content. Last time the MP DLC was leaked, they had a picture of the actual characters. Sounds like a rumor put out by someone who didn't know that Phoenix was supposed to be Prothean. Also, if they added two new quarians, at least one of them would be in a new class or have a different name like the Justicar and Battlemaster. Sounds like a fake to me.

Devs are in a difficult place if this is real. If this is legit, they will most likely do nothing.

Just an interesting fact, search phoenix on the Mass Effect wiki and you get a system called phoenix. In the system there is a prothean data disc, which could possibly explain protheans.

I'm up for more characters.... But I'd rather see collectors as enemies first.... Geth, cerberus, and reapers are getting old.... Though I've just made the ascension into Gold play

Agreed.  Not that I'm opposed to new classes and weapons, but new modes and enemy factions are much more needed.

adding protheans to MP without SP dlc will be very very strange.
i dont like javik, every time i spoked with him i just wanted some renegate charge and punch in the face action. he was my party guy only because of dark channel. so thats why i dont want other protheans...
but this phoenix as a adept /vanguard, hmmm eng or sentinel probably fits ex-cerberus type more...

speculation for everyone, it can be fake, it can be real, it can be protheans because of "phoenix from ashes" or it can be ex-cerberus because of rebelion and similar to those cerberus, phantoms, atlas naming.
