I thought it was cute and I am Agnostic. You should stop watching and playing popular media if Christian refrences upset you...

Wouldn't understand why that would be controversial. After all Mordin isn't human, he isn't going to see our Gods as real, we would refer to his Gods as mythical wouldn't we?

Of course having said that you can see the Fox News headlines incoming...

Now if they wanted to be controversial, they would've set Priority: Earth in Rome where you fight through Vatican City and battle a huskified Pope.

I would so pay for that! BioWare, screw the ending, give me this instead. :P

You do know many Christians regard Adam and Eve and other the stories of the Old Testament as mythology don't you?

This.  A myth can still be informative.  Aesop's Fables much, or heck, Christ's parables?

Still waiting for a decent sci-fi story to refer to the Jesus myth.

These guys nailed it.  But, I would guess the OP is refering to conservative Christian who would take offense at this.  There are many Christians who feel like the above, but they aren't as vocal as the more fundamentalist wing.

I think it's too nitpicky (and obscure on the national/international scene) for even fundamentalists to get worked up about. Most media scandals regarding religion involve either sex or violence because those things attract everybody's attention, fundamentalist or not. I think such things tell you more about the press than they do about people's opinions, religious or secular. Or rather they tell you more about what people find entertaining to watch.

First rule of human kind (Not just Fundamentalists) is that nothing is to small to get worked up over.

Have the BSN forums taught you nothing?:P

Though your probably right this would probably not get the reaction ME1 sex scenes did.

Anyone who treats the story of any religion as anything more than mythology, as if it was literal truth, should submit to psychiatric evaluation.

If they TRULY believe it. Most people believe it for comfort, actually acting on those beliefs is, well, a bit worrysome.

e.g. the haters of homosexuals

But why not Lucy? Dr. Leakey referred to what he thought was the first hominid female as "Lucy." Why Eve? or would Lucy have gone over everyone's head?

I don't know if someone replied to you with this, but "Lucy" was named so because "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was a very popular song at the time. Someone nicknamed it during the evening it was found and it stuck.

Yea, but when you can report on some priest sex scandal or people setting off bombs, why mention one sentence in a game the vast majority of the population has never heard of?  That's more my point.   There's no flashy blue side-boobs to show the gibbering masses to hold their attention even.

I would expect the Bioware forums to blow up about the ending.  The point of the forums is to discuss Bioware games, and that's a pretty big issue for Bioware games.  I wouldn't expect the forums to blow up because say some writer got a bit of lore slightly wrong somewhere, especially with the ugly ending behemoth rearing it's head.  Context and audience are important considerations here.

*Edit* I take posts too seriously

If anyone is interested, I strongly recommend a really confronting set of facts, although, admittedly, mordin comes close to hitchen's awesome fun time of knowledge and fun :P

RIP Hitch.

I am a christian and I didn't really think anything of it when he said that. To him it would be mythology just like to me the Greek gods are mythology.

They are all mythology, there is no reason to believe in any of them.

Opinion? nope. Fact. Although admittedly, I should refphrase, No "factual" reason was my inference.

Of course there is reasons to be religious, otherwise no one would be.

Those reasons are not based on any facts of the religion's existence.

When it comes to matters on a person's faith and it's validity, it is a matter of opinion. Not fact.

When you call a person's faith "mythology", inferring that they are just stories/fairy tales, you are expressing your personal opinion on the subject.

It's said in the ME1 codex that abrahamic religions collapsed after the discovery of other species, because they were unable to explain their existence

No it doesn't, all it says is that religion was shaken up some of the old religoins tried to explain this discovery in someway and a lot of brand new religions sprang up, If abrahamic religions were no longer important CDN would not have done a story on the Pope blessing a bigass diamond.

Most of the people who would be offended by this are too busy being mad over gay romance options that don't even affect them...

This, if I as a christian can accept other people's beliefs next door, why shouldn't I accept some references in a video game made by an alien?

I have faith there is something. You have faith there is nothing. Neither of us has anymore proof of the validity of our belief than the other. That's why it's called faith. Face it. You have it just as much as I do. Posted Image
