Is there any way to make him not run away to his death? It's killing me here! I think I got my elf on my last playthrough to get him to go to the Chantry, but I can't remember. Any help?

Did he run away to his death? Because later on there is a Chantry quest asking you to find his mother. The way they worded it sounds like he's still alive.

I think the child went to the Chantry and you get the keepsake quest. In answer to your question i know there is a convo option to tell the child to go to the Chantry, i have always assumed that because of the Keepsake quest that is inevitably where the child winds up.

Generally I ask who his mother is?  And then make sure to ask about his father.  Then I ask him to come with me to find his mother.  He refuses and I tell him to go to the chantry and they'll take care of him.  His response is he'll go there if he can't find his mother.  After taking care of the bandits for the chantry you get a quest to find his mother. :)

Me too.  OMG he is adorable when he goes "WOW!!! A WHOLE SILVER!!!".

Anyway I don't think he dies, as was said they look for a keepsake for the boy to have, he just ninjas off somewhere.

I've chosen a few different dialogue options with him, just never the really mean ones.

I assumed that no matter what he runs off and finds his way to the Chantry, since you can get a Chanter Board quest to find a keepsake of his mothers.

If you zone after this conversation and walk by the chantry board, you'll notice a boy standing next to the quest-hand-in-fella. I assume that is him? I never really looked real close, but it looks like him...

That kid is always there, he's someone else.

I always tell this kid his mother's dead. No point sparing him the truth.

I already did the keepsake quest and then I told him he shouldn't go find his mother and gave him a silver. Then he goes, "YOU ARE LIKE MUMMY GOING TO RUN AWAY TO BE EATEN BY CREATURES BYE" and I am like standing there going, o_o;

Chantry or not the kid'll be slaughtered by the darkspawn when they destroy Lothering, so... you know... you can take comfort in that I suppose.

If you tell him to come with you, he'll say something along the lines of "My mommy said not to go with strangers," and then you get an option to tell him to go to the Chantry instead.

There is a pc mod where you can kill him if you really want, therefore sparing him from death at the hands of bandits.

I think by the time the darkspawn destroy it the people have fled. When you get there it looks like everyone is packing up and getting ready to head on out.

"Have you seen my mother?"

"Yes, she's over there somewhere"

*kid wanders off*

*Run into the kid later*

"Have you seen my mother?

"Yes, she's over there somewhere"

"You're lying! You're a bad man! I'm not listening to you!"
