So, my friend has been playing through the Mass Effect campaign on their 4GB XBox360.
They recently came over and pulled their save from the cloud, and we did the Feros mission together.
When they returned home and pulled their save back off the cloud, they found they were unable to load the game because they did not have the requisite DLC.
I have both ME1 DLC missions on my console, but their console doesn't even have a hard drive. Is there any way around this? Seems rather silly.

I'm pretty sure your friend's save will no longer work without the DLC present. They can try to load an earlier save (from before it was loaded on your system) if they actually made one, but I'm not sure that will even work... other than that there is no workaround I know of. The same thing happens on the PC version.
Pretty sure your friend can get both DLC and run it off an Xbox formatted 8GB flash drive. That would be one way to get their save up and running, although I think that the DLC for Xbox are only about 250MB each. Pinnacle Station is only 400MSP, and BDtS is only 80MSP - which is bogus since it's free for PC, but it equals less than $5.
And for future reference, if you or your friend wants to import your career into ME2, they should import the save onto the console before playing the end of the game. ME2 and ME3 do not import from cloud saves. Hopefully your friend has a newer 4GB system, (although <512MB should be more than enough for the save - I think it would actually be way under 1MB)?

Luckily, it did not mess up all the save games, but rather only the ones that were saved on my console.
Also luckily, there was a prior save not too far back. I ended up uninstalling the DLC and re-doing the mission.
